i was thinking were do u people stick ur fished models that have long wingspan like the b2 bomber that as a wing span of over 70cm
We hang them from the ceiling [^][:D]. Seriously, lol.
Hang’em high! And make sure you do it right so they dont fall.
they will hang from a ceiling. my idea is to have every area of ww2 aircraft like japs, brits,
americans, etc. u get the idea in one corner of a room at different levels so it is like ONE major bloodshed war sceen.
Blackcat
my b-1 is going on a mirror on my grandfather’s bar
can u please tell me how to hang the planes from a ceiling. as i have never done it b4
As I have a number of big ones waiting to be hung from the ceiling, I have tried a new (and cheap) approach. I attached a couple of lengths of batoning (1x2 approx.) to the ceiling with two screws and come kit. I have concrete ceilings so I used plugs for the screws. I can now just screw these hooks (from the hardware store, not really hooks but bits that are a screw at one end and a circle at the other; looks a bit like a lollipop)into the wood wherever I like. The planes get hung from one of those using very thin fishing line. Don’t worry, it’s strong enough. Just get the knots in right, use superglue to make sure they don’t slip later. Have fun.
come on now weve went over racial slurs, and “japs” isn’t a good thing to be puttin in a international forum.
owell i geuss everyone makes mistakes…
I never hang them from the ceiling, because of the dust. My biggest plane in a 1/72 B-2 and it fits nicely in my glass cabinet.
But my 1/48 B-1 wouldn’t fit in there, so I haven’t build it yet…[V]
Duckman:
If you build models of Japanese A/C from WW2, then they ARE Japs. I’m sure Americans had many more colorful names for them after Pearl Harbor. Now, if you are building MODERN aircraft from Japan, then they are JAPANESE fighters, bombers, airliners, etc. [2c] Political Correctness run amok. [:)]
So German planes from WWI are huns, from WWII are jerry’s, russian planes before 1990 are commies etc?[:0]
I think we should refrain from using these types of names on a international forum.
If you have any wall left over you can do them like the Smithsonian. Attach string or wire to the nosegear, nose, wings or whatever, and display them flat against the wall, nose up. You can use picture hanging clips to attach them to the wall, or you can attach them all to the molding at the ceiling. I am at work, so don’t have the pictures here, but have 1/72 b-36,b-47, b-70, b-52, xb-35, yb-49, b-2, etc in my den. Great for comparing size and shape when they are all the same scale.
I’m pretty sure I never mentioned Germans or Russians. Did they attack Pearl Harbor, TOO? Man, talk about messed up history books. I NEEVERR knew that. You just wait until I see my old History teacher again.
I would say, but…
HOLY CRAP!!!
Leave it alone.
Agreed, Willuride [^]
I’ve got a monogram 1/48 B-29 and a 1/72 B-36 that i hung 15yrs ago using fishing line with no problems except for the dust build up.
How did I know some how or other this thread was gonna take a turn…[:0]
When I was younger, I hung some of my models by fishing line as mentioned. I would rap the line around the fuselage in two points then the wings near the fuselage. This would also depend on the size of the a/c and placement of the line.
The actual mounting point would be an “I” hook into the ceiling and then make a loop knot and place it onto the hook.
Just make sure you hang em high enough to where you dont walk into them then again they can be strafing you too[:p][;)]
Flaps up, Mike
