I’m nearing the end of the build-up of my Azimut Mack NO truck, which will be towing an AFV Club 8" howitzer. They will be attached via a towing pintle as well as some chains that extend from the hoist on the back of the truck to the clamp on the end of the trails on the gun.
I’m beginning to wonder how I should manage this for display and possible future moves. On the one hand, it will look best if I attach the whole thing as one big model, especially where I attach the chains from the truck’s hoist to the back of the gun, but how on earth could I ever pick it up? The connection would crack in a second.
On the other hand, if I do’t glue it, it will be pretty much impossible to attach the chains to the end of the trails on the gun. I could, I guess, drape the chains, infuse them with superglue without letting it run to the gun, let it dry, and then the chains will be frozen in place, but it might not look completely right.
Any ideas? Should I leave the chains off, and just leave the towing pintle unglued? That’d be a shame, as I’ve got a swell photo of the hoist and how the chains attached to the towing clamp.
