Big Kudos for Tamiya

I broke my canopy for my 1/48 scale wildcat. Since this is my first airplane in 15 years, i searched for a replacement and ended up contacting Tamiya. I emailed them on thur, and recieved a response on fri. Fantastic. THey had the parts i wanted for two whole dollars. Heck, i ordered two sets at that price. All in all a fantastic experiece. Today i purschased another tamiya kit to show my thanks. Great Job tamiya BIll

I’m with ya Bill!!! [tup][tup] I fully support Tamiya!! I’m just glad I’m not into R/C anymore, as their R/C products are extremely pricey!! But I always seem to get what I pay for when I purchase their plastic kits!! And I haven’t one complaint about that at all!!!

Tamiya is my second favorite model company behind Accurate Miniatures. Their Wildcat kit is one of my favs. Good luck to you and hopefully you wont need anymore replacement parts!

Bill,
any chance you broke that canopy trying to get it down low enough on the fuse?
the canopy on that kit seems to be too narrow to fit properly.
you can try to relieve it a bit by sanding the inside of the canopy where it meets the fuse,
or take the lazy way out and leave it a bit high.
but don’t try to force it in place.
it will break in half.
my buddy has one just like it. (two pieces)
and i had the same problem when i built mine.
i left mine ‘up’ a bit and open.

Naw, i didn’t hurt it installing it. I had is sitting on my work bench, and a large, heavy book fell over and snapped it in half. I am going ot try spraying it interior green first, then the blue outer color. Hopefully this works well. My next build is an oldie but goodie, a monogram dauntless. However I have a Accurate minutures Avenger in the dock. I also do 1/72,1/35 armor and O-scale trains. Airplanes have been a great change of pace. Bill

I had a similar experience with Tamiya. The canopy on a Spitfire MkI was found broken in the box. I called Tamiya America and they sent a replacement in 3 days at no charge. Great Company.

Well, I’m with you guys in that Tamiya is my favorite kit manufacturer as well. I know some people say that there is no challenge in putting together a kit that falls together, but even that can be challenging enough for me!!

I’m still hoping for the 1/48th B 17!!!

I agree with benzdoc-I love when they fall together. I need all the help I can get.
