Bf-109: Reich Defender GB The End

SC & Frank-thanks guys. This one is a good learning experience.

SC-very nice work on your 109. You’re making that $11.00 kit shine.

SC, now thats what Im talking about!!. Really good looking 109 and the decals are great.

Steve

SC- Nice! Looks like that new airbrush is paying dividends already. A bit of unsolicited advice, the landing gear looks like they need a little rake, you might want to kick them out forward a bit.

Frank- As always, the consumate master modeler! [bow]

Frank Bob and Steve thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it.

Mike the gear are not glued yet. The Pegasus kit has the gear and doors moulded in one big piece. Not great looking but they are so strong I used them to hold the model up when painting. They definetly need to be pushed foward before being glued. Added all of the fiddly bits and then a dullcoat tonight.

Thanks much Mike! Feels great to be finally making some progress. [^]

Frank made progress?!?!?!?! Did he post the propeller! I didn’t miss the propeller did I?!!! [:-,]

No propeller here! [:I]

Aaron, dang you always come up with the kits I am looking for. I really need to shop about more. Sweet little kit you got there

Steve

Ahem!!

Good morning gentlemen.

I am reporting for duty in this group build with my very first ever 109 model.

I say!..its nothing like the Spitfires I’m used to![:-,] Who talked me into this anyway?[:D]

Here’s the gen, chaps…

1/48 Hasegawa Bf109-G10 “NJG-11” I will be building this very interesting bird straight from the box, in the markings of “White 44” My only additions will be some spare P/E to the office.

The kit:

My progress so far…

One hopes it resembles something like a 109 cockpit-let me know how I did![:I]

Very nice work Darren. Looks the part from here.

Sorry Aaron. [V] I have no propeller pics yet, but I do have a surprise later today for you. [}:)]

Darren- Great to see your WIP pics! Your office looks like you have done this many times, first one you say? Not sure if I believe you… [;)] Looking forward to seeing how you like that kit, the basic moldings are well represented here.

Thanks for your comments lads-[tup]

Good to hear I’m heading in the right direction with this one. I have been tinkering with the fuselage and wings this afternoon and I’m really enjoying this build-I’ve ordered some RLM76 paint and am looking forward to getting the airbrush cranked up for this one!

More later![oX)][#toast]

Ah the CAG has sailed off the end of the map it seems to parts unknown. Frank what have you done?

Darren your G-10 pit looks the bomb! Can’t wait until you start painting on it!

Everyone has some great work! SC is becoming a regular Herr Georing look alike!

Frank a suprise for me? Just in time for valentines day! You sly dog!

Darren the cockpit looks spot on to me. Those are some great markings in that kit. Looking foward to seeing more.

Frank no spinner pics yet! Me and Aaron are waiting with baited breath. It would make a nice Valentine’s day present.[:D]

Should have the finished pics of the Pegasus up later tonight if all goes well.

Thanks for the kinnd words fella’s, I have put the fuselge and the wing together, I did find a slight step at the wing root but I filled them as the glue was drying-I think I’ve got away with it.

My 109 is a night fighter and has guards around the exhaust stubs, the kit does not provide them and I was wondering if anyone here had tackled this task before-it would be noce to pick up any tips.[;)]

See you later!

A tad more progress on my K. I sanded down the wing and stabilizer joints and attached the supercharger intake and overwing wheel bulges.

Once I get the centerline rack attached, painting will begin…

Ok put number two in the books She is all done. Pegasus 1/48 Me 109 G-6. I built it mostly OOB. I added a pilot tube and scrounged a antenna mast balance weights and DF loop antenna base. The actual antenne was removed from this particualr aircraft. The markings White 1 are Erich Hartman’s plane. 4/JG52 Budoars Hungary Nov 44.

Nice job SC. Great paint work.

A very nice clean build SC!

I do have some pics, though probably not what you were expecting! I had a client come in wanting a custom pendant for his wife. He was looking for a spiral design (have you guessed where this is heading?) and wanted me to design one for him. So, I thought to myself: “where can I find an inspiration for a spiral?” Hmmm…

Hehehe… yep! The spinner of a 109! So, I tore into my handy jewelry CAD/CAm design program and set to work. Here’s a screen shot of the pendant taking shape on the computer:

And, the finished piece:

So, hopefully these pics will suffice for a little while until I can get some real 109 spinner pics. Thanks for looking! [:D]

Darren- For those exhaust shields, how about using some sheet styrene to make new ones? I can’t find a photo at the moment of the actual night-fighter shields, but I believe they were similar in shape, just extended lower to cover the stubs. Does anyone else have a photo?

Carlos- She’s really taking shape now! Looks like you are about ready for some paint. [tup]

SC- OUTSTANDING! Camo looks very good, and the decals look painted on. Well done! [^]
