Bf 109 K

Hasegawa 1:48 Scale Bf109K-4 (W.Nr. 330209)

Malpensa Italy 1945

This aircraft was delivered by the Luftwaffe to Malpensa, Italy in 1945 where it would later be marked in the ANR markings of “3-17” and would serve until the end of the war.

This is Hasegawa’s 1:48th Bf 109K built wit the following additions. Eduard cockpit detail set, True Details resin weighted wheels, resin outer wheel well doors, metal rear landing gear and wheel, and Aeromaster decals. The kit was built straight forward with the exception of cutting the rear landing gear doors and gluing them in the closed position, since the gear doors would only open and close when the gear was opening or retracting.

The aircraft was painted with the Aztek A470 using Gunze RLM 76/81/82 acrylics. The kit was first preshaded with RLM 66, once dry the RLM 76 was lightly painted on extending up the sides of the fuselage. The RLM 82 was painted next freehanded and finally the RLM 81. Once all the camouflage colours were on the paints were faded by mixing a small amount of the RLM 76 in and lightly spraying randomly over the upper colours. I used Johnson’s Shine Magic in the areas that would receive decals by applying it with a soft brush. I prefer this method over coating the entire model. As far as weathering most was done with the airbrush, pastels, silver pencil, and drafting pencil.

The Decals are from Aeromaster and went on well with a bit of Micro Set and Micro Sol. When the kit was marked I applied Shine Magic mixed with Tamiya Flat Base to get a nice matte finish.

Great job on the 109… You did a superb job!!![:D]

Excellent work on your Bf 109 K!

I have a few of those kits in my build pile, if I could make one to look half as good as yours I would be very happy.

Hope you do more Bf 109 Ks.

beautiful!!! I’ve never built a 109 and don’t know much about them but you did a great job on that one. It’s good to see another Aussie in here too.

keep up the good work.

Wonderfully done Anthony , but after following your advice
I still can’t get the future+tamiya flat mix right.

Very impressive!!! Lovely build [bow][bow][bow]

Shine Magic was made by S.C. Johnson, but the ystopped making it or atleast selling it over here in Austalia. I happen to have a bottle which has lasted me nearly 5 years. I also use Pascoes Long Life and One Go, which are all floor products.
Cheers
