Well all here is my finished Bf-109G marked in the personal markings of Hans Marsielle. Marked as one of his last aircraft it has over 100 kill markings on the tail.
This is the Revell-Germany 1/32 Bf-109G-4 Trop kit with Eagle strike decals for Hans Jochiam Marsielle, one of the top german aces of WWII. The only other additions to this build were the scratchbuilt harnesses and a quick fix to the back of the seat. I used Revell colors for the base paints and accented with some acrylics. A light wash was laid down in the panel lines before the decals were applied, and most of the weathering was done with powered pastel chalks. All in all a great straight forward build, the only real tricky parts were alligning the radiator “flaps” and deciding on how to weather the bird. I think that if I were to do it again i would go with a bunch of AM parts and really detail it up. I hope to put it on a diorama base that would put it in North Africa with perhaps a Pic of Marsielle and perhaps an Iron Cross.
Any comments would be welcome!!!
BTW - This was built for the North Africa 2005 Group Build.
OK - here is the seatbelt trick. I use cloth medical tape, cut to the correct width and length, painted and topped off with a wire scratch built buckle. As for the white color, all i did was apply several light layers of white until i was satisfied.
blkhwkmatt:
congrats on one sweet ‘Trop’!
all u need is Hans Joachim Marseille
standing next 2 it !
maybe u should forget the pic & find a figure,
it would look great in 1/32 scale, i think.
i love the scheme, which paints/colors did u use ?
i’ll b doing a 109f Trop 4 the North Africa GB, & they
suggest light ghost grey 4 the undersides, but i like
the look of the blue u have going on there…
Frosty - for the underside color I took the Revell color Hellblau and added some grey to it. I think that it was the same grey that i painted the pit with, so it sohuld be RLM 02. I would love to add a figure to the display base but cannot remember if anyone makes one of him. I have debated just getting a 1/35 luffwaffe pailot figure and doing it that way but havent made up my mind yet.
To all - thanks for the looks and for all the feedback!!
