best way to fix sinkholes

i built a tamiya a6m2 and a week ago i noticed the there a a small sinkhole on the wing. i got the squadron fast drying white putty and applied it, let it dry, then sanded it down. but the other day i noticed the sinkhole was back, like i the putty just evaporated! what did i do wrong?

Squadron putty tends to shrink a little bit. When I apply it, I wait 24 hours, then sand. Should solve your problem!

I like Milliput the best for sinkholes, if tou smear it out with a wet finger it gets a real nice feather edge and there is little sanding left, so I don’t mess up the plastic around the spot so much. Just be sure you sand it out by the next day or it can be like super glue and get very hard.

For shallow sink marks I use Mr. Surfacer 500. For deeper ones, I use CA, but only let it set for a few minutes (5 max) or it gets rock hard.

I apply CA to the sinkhole, then sprinkle on baking soda. The baking soda reacts with the CA to make a hard-as-plastic sandable, filled spot. Maybe a little filler putty after and thats it.

In fact you can use the CA/baking soda thing to reinforce joints, build up areas, etc. It becomes quite hard and solid once set - and it sets immediately.

For sinkholes, small seam cracks and pinholes, I’ve had very good luck using White Out or its variations. I use the containers that have the ball point pen type applicators to apply it to the area, let it dry for a 1/2 hr or so and the lightly sand with fine wet/dry sandpaper.
