Best Way to Apply Cavalier Zim??

Hey guys,

What’s the best method to apply cavalier zim to a model. I know you have to sand off any attachment points on the armor, but what medium do you use to attach the zim. Superglue? Epoxy? White Glue?

Thanks in advance.

I use extra thick or gel super glue. The longer working time gives you an ideal window of time to position it, and then hit it with accelerator.

5 minute, 2 part epoxy has worked well for me (albeit used only once)

I did the same thing as doog. It’s porous enough the accelerator works right through it.

I recently used Great Planes 30 minute epoxy on a Panther A that I’m building. But 30 minutes I think is a very generous estimate of setting time for this product since it seemed to tack up and hold after only about 10 minutes in my experience. That said, Doog’s method of using slow setting super glue, then setting it with accelerator sounds pretty interesting. Lots of different ways to do it; whatever you choose, just pick something that gives you a few minutes to position the resin properly and you’ll be fine.

I first test fit the big piece, then break it off into a couple of big pieces, then use 5 minutes superglue for each part. Giving you enough time to move it around.

Ben

im a pretty big fan of cavalier zimm. so ive used it acouple of times, and what ive found to work really well is to sand any lumps an bumps down, rough up the back of the zimm with a scotbrite pad and use 2 part epoxy putty. any adhesive that oozes out through the top is wiped off by a baby wipe.i fined that this seals the edges really well.

good luck
