Best I could do with my smashed P-61.

This was one of the first kits I made after returning to the hobby a few years ago. Within a week of completion, one of the cats jumped on it and destroyed the undercarriage.

I wasn’t too enamoured with my finish on it, but I was quite proud of my detailing in the cockpits, gun bay, and radar. I decided to display just the crew nacelle, so I rigged this up.

This will have to be the P-61 in my collection for now. I may tackle another one down the road. If I do, I still have the cowling with open flaps to use. The asymmetry of one open cowl and one closed bugged me.

If I were to do it again, I wouldn’t have put it on a 45* angle; it seems a bit steep to my eye.

Dude, that’s SICK!! I really like the diorama there. Very nice.

I sympathize friend. Got back into the hobby this spring, working on a Stuka, should be safe to leave it out in my own house right?? Well our cat didn’t think so as he broke it right along the wing root…TWICE!! Fool me once, shame on kitty…fool me twice, shame on me. Very cool way to salvage it tho! I bet the old hands around here have some interesting stories of build mishaps.

Nice save of the most work.

My “boy” is trying to help work on the SBD and RF4 right now… (8 lbs of young black tom, named after the AC-47’s call sign… Spooky). But at least he gives “high fives”

Why do cats hate modelling so much? [H] They are murder on antennae as well. I tried to hide my builds when the girlfriend brought her cats over. Yeah right. you can’t hide stuff from a cat.

Nice recovery there though.

That’s a great idea for a busted model, Cdn Colin! I’ll have to remember that the next time one of my builds get busted.

Thats brilliant and the angle looks great to me! I did buy and build 2 of those just so I could get those cowl flaps correct ,it bugged me too!

Nice save. I like it.

I had a really great cat once and she was very good at not bothering my models. But she hated flys and would track down and kill any that got in the house- actually a good attribute in a cat. In her zeal to capture one she knocked my 48 scale Monagram F-14 to the floor. Pilots never even had a chance to eject. Total loss. I’ve since purchased two kits Monogram F-14 kits and plan to build it again. My cat would just sit and watch me work at my bench downstairs in the basement. One day I came home and found two wheels and several other parts lying around upstairs. Little squirt was removing them from the open box downstairs and carrying them upstairs to play with!
