I looked in my tool cabinet and just hapenned to have Velcro Brand with the sticky back. I applied it to the cooler and seems to be sticking on solid. Let’s see how long it stay there.
Jim I use Aleene’s to attach some pe and canopies and the stuff is great.
Go Lateral… get Decals/Stickers instead, problem solved!
For this soft side cooler, the self-adhesive velcro should work fine. It’s not like he is going to be taking the patch off a lot so there is minimal abuse to the adhesion. And if the patch needs to come off; as long as he has hold on the lower velcro piece, he can pull the patch off without an issue.
I know this because I have several patches on my tactical gear, and a couple are attached this way, and I have yet to have one peel off.
Yes the patch will not be removed at all. So far it’s holding really solid.
It will; the glue will penetrate the weave of the fabric. But it’s probably not strong enough for this application. It’d eventually tear or break under repeated stress of opening.
I like the contact adhesive idea.
You’re right there. Spilled a bottle of thin on pants leg. Was heavy denim/canvas type material. Thought my leg was going to burst into flames, wherever the CA hit fabric it soaked through, and when dry it broke the threads like they were ice. Absolutely no give or flex.
Well I’m very happy to report that the Velcro with the adhesive backing I used is working out having a super strong bond on the cooler’s fabric cover. [Y]
