I use enamel paint-mostly Testors and Model Master. I also use sable hair brushes and clean them with Testors brush cleaner for enamels. I’m finding these 1 3/4 ounce small bottles just aren’t lasting long enough.
What I really want to know is what is the most “economical” yet, effective product to clean enamel paint from sable hair brushes?
Did you take a look at an art store ? I found that they stock a lot of items that result at least as good as so called modelling products and are not more expensive in the average ( and they eventually sell bigger sizes-brush claener, varnish, acrylic retarder…)
Hope this will help you.
Jose is right I think, any art supply store will have a very large container or turps or mineral spirits to clean oil paints off of brushes with. That should easily take model paints out as well.
I use laquer thinner myself, but I don’t have expensive sable brushes. I think it might dry the hair out and fray the brush some. LT will thin or clean or melt just about anything. So you were right, just overly right maybe [:)]
On the other hand, it might not do anything at all to the brushes. The only way to see is just to try.
