Best airbrush compressor for $100-$300

well there no way im going to buy one of thoes. probably a polarbear 2000 will be good for me!

Honestly, after receiving my Polar Bear 2000, I can say that it is a great product, and will server me (keeping my fingers crossed) for many years to come, and will power anything I need.

I will post a full review sometime this week after I’ve had ample time to use it on one of my current builds.

Hi. Can you tell me were you ordered you polarbear 2000? I think in going to get this one. Thank you.

I’m may be new to air brushing but I got a paasche VL attached it directly to my $125.00 craftsman added a water trap set the regulator to 25psi and I’m practicing and spraying my model’s, no problem.

Thank you! It costs only $7 to ship it over to Canada! It’s a really good price for what you get. What air brush should I get? I think bearair gives some good prices on their airbrushes!

I bought the Polar Bear 2000 with the Peak C-5 airbrush combo. Yes, the shipping charge to Canada is reasonable. Alright, downright cheap. But be forewarned (as Bgrigg did this favour for me). Be prepared to pay A LOT for the UPS brokerage fee. To be exact, I paid $87 for the brokerage fee when the item arrived at my door. Which, to be honest with you, didn’t make any sense in the world to me, since their site clearly states that the payment amount should have been half of that, based on the value of the item carried. You may wish to contact them and clear that fiasco up prior to ordering.

Having said that, even with the brokerage fee, I ended up with a fantastic product, and an airbrush I am only too pleased with, all for a price that could not be matched for anything I could find locally.

oh man the brokerage fee is about half the price of the compressor. I hate UPS they always find a way to get money from your pocket, thats why i only use purolator but they probably dont work with BearAir. can you tell me how much that airbrush costs? i will probably get it!

Here is a link to what I purchased. I also suggest you get an extra airhose. The set does come with everything, but I did not order a hose, and had to use one of the shorter ones provided. It is very aggrivating, and I ended up going onto ebay immediately to order a longer one.

Check out the link, imo, even with the brokerage fee, it is a good price. The airbrush alone retails for $100 USD at the same site.

do you enjoy that peak c-5? it looks good! i will purchase a longer hose even if it was long enough. just if the hose breaks. are you on any projects lately?

Hmmm?

I use a Dewalt 2.0 SCFM compressor that came bundled with a couple of nail guns. Noisy and hard to set at the low pressures needed for airbrush work, but does ok out in the garage. I want to move my booth to the utility room so I’m going to have to bite the bullet and get something more suited to indoor work.

Will be keeping and eye on this thread and checking out some of the recomendations.

Yes, I really like the Peak C-5. Mind you, I was using an Aztec before that, and maybe that is the reason why I like the C-5 so much; it is infinitely better, more balanced, steady spray pattern, better build quality.

I am on a rather large project right now, and will be using the C-5 to paint the next model for it. You can check out this thread for my current build log:

thank you! I’m going to order the bundle soon and I will stick with your project and see how it turnes out:) good luck.

hi. your link that you posted does not exist :frowning:
(the page cannot be found) what is the title of your post? thank you

It is there. Very impressive project. The working link: German railway diorama WIP

Sorry to hijack here, but I noticed it mentioned that some of the Silentaire compressors are manufactured in Italy?

I dont suppose that anyone knows who the manufacturer is?? i am currently looking for a source of trade compressor supply & dont seem to be coming up with much luck on trying to deal with the better known compressor manufacturers.

Are you looking for portable or stationary units? For stationary units I recommend Saylor-Beall. I’ve been to their facilty several times and watched them assemble their units from start to finish. I worked for a company that sold, serviced and installed them.

Ingersol-Rand makes some very good portables.

Italy seems to be one of the countries known as source for compressors as well as pressure washers. You have to watch quality, as they offer a full spectrum from crap to excellent.

Now this is a “small” compressor package that I am standing in the middle of, those we use for our workshop are trinkets and toys. [;)]

No Gerald, not that big!

I’m looking for hobby compressors as are being discussed here - the sort of stuff Sparmax makes?

But you would never, ever run out of air! [:D]

Somehow I don’t think it fits the $100-$300 price range, though.
