Having almost completed my 109, I’m planning a Zero as my next build.
What’s the opinions on the best 1/48th kit?
Cheers guys.

For the early Zero, such as the a6m2 type 11 or 21, Hasegawa is the way to go. For the later variants, such as the a6m3 type 32 or a6m5 type 52, get the “new tooled” Tamiya kits. Careful here because they have old, circa 70’s, 3 and 5’s available too. You can tell the difference by the price. The new tooled kits cost double. Its not that the older ones are bad, but the detail on the newer kit(s) are state of the art and rival their P-47 kits.

Here, I took the liberty to find them for you. I consider these the “best” 1/48 scale Zero kits on the market. Other opinions may vary.

Good Luck,

I agree with Joe. The only real good A6M2 kit is the Hasegawa one. For the later zeros you want the new Tamiya kits. Hasegawa’s later Zeros are real good too, but not quite up to the new Tamiya’s.
Agree on the A6M2 from Hasagawa. I am by no means a good builder but it turned out really well witch says allot about the kit!

Thanks for the pointers guys…excellent.
