I am working on some heavy weathering for ship (1/142). The goal here is to simulate an old vessel ON the water. Real ships have heavy rust above the waterline and a faded and barnicle ridden bottom. I can handle the top but could use some help on the bottom.
Can any of you offer some tips on how to achieve the old, weathered look for the hull below the water line. Have any of you simulated barnicles before? If so how?
IN that scale the barnicles can be replicated with sand or talus from a train supply, put some on a cutty block and either rool a pin over it or hit with a small hammer to crush smaller… There is no correct or hight buildup area on a boat, they get everywhere except the propeller in most cased if the vessels moves at least once per week or so, the young villerges (SIC) cannot hand on good with their bissle threads
