Beginner compressor?

What do you guys recommend as a good compressor to start out with? I don’t want to break the bank with this thing, but canned air is started to bug the crap out of me (freezes, pressure changes, etc…you all know how this goes).

I was looking at Testors “Blue Ice” mini-compressor, but anything small, quiet and cheap will do. Opinions/recommendations?

silentaire scorpian
iwata sprint jet
one from harbour freight (you also need pressure reg)
but avoid aztek stuff

i have the badger Whirlwind 80-1 which is a great little compressor (thanks to Sgt. Andy on this forum). Badger doesnt make it anymore but they make the Whirlwind 80-2 which is an upgrade and has a little more umph. I love how quiet these things are comparatively, so if that’s an issue for you, give it a try.

With all due respect, your anti-Aztek rants are getting tiresome. [|(]
Aztek does not even manufacture their own compressors so that statement is nothing more than your own bias and has no basis in fact.

Honestly, go to Harbor Freight. REMEMBER I don’t work for 'm or affiliated

They had one that looked like Whirlwind 80, with a regulator, for $60.

Or get a CO2 cannister delivered to your house, with a regulator, buy the adaptor, and you have tons of good quality air

had to throw that in. I to am looking for a nice beginning compressor was thinking of this one. GO DUCKS…sorry Kight667 http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=TS50204

I highly recommend that you buy a good quality compressor that will last. I made the mistake of buying an entry level cheep cmpressor and it didn’t last. I bought an Iwata Sprintjet and have been very happy with it. It has a pressure regulator and is very quiet. I bought mine on E Bay but dixieart.com is an excellent source for this compressor BTW, avoid the Campbell Hausfeld Silent Air compressor unless you like to buy frequent replacements!

Mike: fine fine. its just heir airbrushes… i wont even say it

knight: go for it, i guess

kinekx, no problem, i’m not a big beaver fan even though I’m an alumni and still live here [:D]

That’s the compressor I was looking at as well…but I’ll check out Harbor Freight, per ModelMann’s recommendation

Thanks all!
