Been away for a bit, back now with F-117A PICS..

Well guys, been away for a while, and what a few weeks I have had… I have seen alot of great work over the last few months, but please accept my appologies for not adding support and praise of late…

Well I have added some extra pics to my airliners post with the update of my A380, and then I also managed to sneak a Stealth F-117A in there aswell…

This is the great Tamiya 1/48 scale kit of the F-117A Stealth Fighter… I must say, a very simple build, and it is nicely molded and packaged… I am very happy with the way it has turned out!

Only problem is… Its a dust magnet!

Chris

nice work as always chris [:D] is this a new or old build?

keep it coming mick [8-]

Nicely Done!

Thank you Gentlemen… Actually… This build was done in the last week…

Chris

Nice one Chris. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Thanks guys… This was an impulse build… I have really enjoyed the movie STEALTH, and also the Discovery Channel here in Japan has had a week of the top 10 fighters, and after watching the doco about the F-117A, I got up, went to my friends store and got one…

Although not really a fighter, it is still a fine piece of machinery, and I thought it would be nice to do one… I also decided to do it on its legs with one side of the weapons bay open… I think it gives it a little extra to look at… Although I dont think they sit around like that much…

I currently have the Rev/Mon 1/48 F-22 Raptor on order, so they will sit nicely together! Some people didnt like the movie STEALTH, but for what its worth, the effects alone were cool to watch…

Chris

chris you are a model making machine, can i send you half of my stash to finish up? [(-D]

mick [8-]

Nicely done Chris! It might’ve been a “quickie” but hey, doesn’t hurt now & then [;)] Just watched something on the History channel the other night about the X-planes. That was quite interesting…

He he he…Thanks buiscuite… But I am struggling along with my A380… Now that is taking its time… I have been working on it for a month, on and off… So sometimes I am known to take my time…But this one was a simple and strait forward build… Great kit…

Ed… Yeah, I really enjoy those documentaries… I never get tired of them… But for some reason, the one on the F-117A just hit a chord with me… Thanks for the comments!

Chris

Nice work on the 117. They have to have the bomb bay open at some point to get the bangy thing in there, even if they don’t leave it that way for very long.

Darwin, O.F. [alien]

Exactly my thinking Darwin!.. It looks good as a display, and so who am I to argue!..

Chris

Very clean, crisp build. I especially like the wheel well door “art”. Looks great sneaking up on those airliners!

Thanks Mucker,… Appreciate it!.. It is always an interesting model to have in a collection I think… I sometimes feel that the F-117A gets forgotten by most modelers…

Chris

Nice build. I am still amazed that that thing even flys.

Chris, this is a real good build! I’ve allways wanted to build a 117.

Just getting back into a/c after the release of a recent F/A-18 myself (being more of an auto guy). But I do have a few 1/48th in the stash which will shortly get some attention. And your 117 is inspiring me to try and get hold of one of those as well. If that’s not the ultimate compliment… [;)] [tup]

Thank you for saying SeaBee… It really is a beautiful and bizaar aircraft, so that why I have always had a liking for it… And the Tamiya kit is a fun and simple build! I am happy that I have inspired you to build one, that is a great compliment!..

Wing_Nut… Yeah, it is amazing how it flies…But I dare say they would have that thing jam packed with software, the pilot would just need the keys to start it and away he goes!.. Probably not that simple, but you know what I mean… But you can tell with the cockpit, that it is built big for comfort and long distance… So the pilot has other things on his mind, while the airlcraft looks after getting him there!

Chris

Hey Chris. Always enjoy seeing your work. Fox showed that top 10 fighters episode here just the other week. Interesting to see what placed where. As a matter of curiosity how much is the Raptor going to cost you in Japan. I picked this kit up last weekend from Hobbyrama in Stafford for $20. [party]Yep you read right. Had to beat myself up a couple of times just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. Looks like it might build into a nice kit, though they’ve divided the damn fuselage top & bottom in 2, so I can envisage an ugly join line to fill & sand.[banghead]

Hi Shaun… Well after transfering the Yen into dollars, I got the Italeri 1/48 Raptor for $16 from www.hobbyeasy.com in Hong Kong… I ordered it with some other stuff, so the postage would be low… I always get my stuff from there unless they have it in stock down the road!.. I will be home in April for 2 weeks, and I may have to go for a little drive over to Stafford! As for Hobbyrama, they have been building that website for as long as I have been in Japan,(going on 5 years), and I dont remember if they ever got one running? Great shop though!

I built the 1/72 Raptor from Italeri about 3 years ago, and I know it hit the bin not long after that… I am hoping that the 1/48 will be a little more presentable than the little guy?

Chris

gotta love hobbyrama,i can be found there every couple of weeks. How do you find prices and

availability from hong kong.i was there a couple of years ago and bought up big due to the

exchange rate [:D] mick [8-]

Hey biscuit… Well I find that the company that I deal through, always have cheaper prices, so even with package, I am always ahead… I also like to buy more than one thing to save on said package also… Although lately they have been a little slow…

As for Hobbyrama, it would be going on 4 years since I stepped into there I guess… Big place I remember… Wasnt much of a fan of Hobby 1… And they moved over to Mt Gravatt, and then found that they werent the same…

Actually from Hong Kong, I am waiting on my Italeri 1/48 F-22 Raptor, as I want to display it with my F-117A… Here is a picture of the one that I want to do… I have also decided to get a 2 seater F-15 to join them… I love both the aircarft in this picture!
