Beast from the East #2 inside the Hind

Here’s a few cockpit shots of the Czech Hind from Beast from the East #1:

Here’s the main instrument console in the pilot’s pit

Straight out the pilot’s front window

Gunner’s position from through the front window

Interesting trivia:
The stenciling on the outside of the Hind is in Czech while the information placards in the cockpit are in Russian.

How they don’t get sick looking at that Russian cockpit blue is beyond me!

That color is very “dental.” Or the tile in my grandparent’s bathroom.

Nice close-ups Kevan, thanks!!

(Also, thanks for putting your scratched P-40 in your sig… I looked and looked for it a couple weeks ago, [:)])

Take care,
Frank

If you read the book, “MIG Pilot” about the Russian Defector Victor Belenko, he explains that the russians did a study and found that color to soothing and relaxing.

soothing and relaxing??!!

I dunno about you guys, but it makes me wanna hurl… or get my teeth fixed, which usually results in me wanting to hurl…

Hey I don’t agree either, but hey if its in a book, its got to be true

And the two of you are saying bubble gum pink would be preferable?

Must be great to be able to get that close to that bird.

Yep, a real dream come true.

If someone had told me 5 or 10 years ago that I’d have the chance to crawl around in a Hind, I’d be calling the local mental hospital to come take them away.

Thx Upnorth, very good reference pics, greatly appreciated!
First pic upper right quarter, is that a LCD screen?

Best Regards
Johan

Its not an LCD screen Johan, I think its a moving map dispay of some sort. Whatever it is, it certainly isn’t the most modern of equipment by the look of it.

Upnorth - thanx fer the interior pix. Yeah, that cockpit color is bit too institutional (as in mental) for my tastes. But I don’t have to live in it :0) → oh wait…maybe I do.

Also hoping to have my trumeter kit shortly from HK so I can do the Hungarian Eagle scheme. (see sentence above)
