I am going to attempt my first real ship build. It is a 1/350th scale Bismark made by Linderberg. It is several years old. I was looking at it the other day and looks like it will need a lot of help with getting things to fit. It will probably be a good experience type kit. I would like some day to get the Tamiya kits. Any way, does anyone know if the Bismarks decks were wooden and left their original color of teal or did they paint all of her horizontal decks grey? Cannot find much photos (color) to shown her true color.

The best site out there for Bismarck info- great pics and color drawings showing camo at different periods…

Snoopy,
There’s quite a bit of info on the Bismarck out on the internet, but you’ll find many conflicting sources on color, especially her turret tops, colors of her deck swastika
bands, etc. I’m told that the new Warship Pictorial book on the Bismarck class is
an excellent book.
Her decks were teak, not teal…although teal decks would make for a pretty ship…If I remember correctly, the America had green decks, or was it the United States?
Jeff
The Bismarck colors were very simple.
-The main hull is light gray.
-The stripes of camouflage black and white
-The deck was made of teak, and wasn’t painted.
-The conflict about turrets top color is to forget, they were the same color of the hull,
not red or anything else.
The Prinz Eugen yes, the top of turrets were red, for some especific time of war.

also remember that at the time of her last sortie, she was not wearing any camoflage.
