Please ‘enlist’ me with an Eduard Bf-109E-1 in 1/48.

That’s some amazing work my friend. As for your work being hidden, no telling how many people have seen, or will see it, by posting it here. I never could understand why a model company would put so much work into designing something that will never to be seen.

You have been enlisted!

I made good progress on my Ju88 over the weekend. I hope to wrap it up within a couple of weeks, depending on what life throws at me during that time.

There is some re-work to do due to oversight on my part - not fully masking the underside to prevent overspray, and a few spots where paint either lifted from the tape or seeped under masking.

Once those repairs are done, I’ll give her a coat of gloss clear to start the decaling and weathering. Only when that is done will I attach the wings, nacelles, and stabilizers. I’m taking this approach to give myself ample room to get at otherwise tight areas with my airbrush or my tweezers (for applying decals).

I was able to get the first coat of paint on the topside of the Beaufort tonight. I’ll let that cure for at least 24 hours and decide what to do next.

Looking good @dadoffour. I’m presuming that is RAF Dark Earth?

@Aggieman yes it is. This is the Mission Model version of it. When I first put it on, it didn’t seem like it would be dark enough but it seems to look better as it dries.

Not much to update but thought I should document the next layer of paint on the Beaufort. I sketched out the demarcation lines in pencil and carefully followed the lines with my airbrush. I think it turned out fairly well.

Looks great! That’s quite a big model - didn’t notice until now.

Today I managed to start the Emil.
The kit is an overtrees offering purchased from Eduard store, some years ago. It came with PE and masks (sweet  ).
A little cockpit work, some wiring and other bits were added. Gazing at the photos, it looks like the work of an inebriated electrician, I hope it will look better after painting.

@dadoffour Good job on the camo pattern.

@Zvezda1980 Nice 109. Eduard sure likes to make things complicated!

Fantastic job on the wiring!

Got the main decals on the Beaufort tonight. I should have put on 2 coats of finish. The microset started stripping off the paint.

I’m not sure you will see it in the photos but it’s visible to my eye. I’ll have to weather this one up a lot to hide the paint issue.

Sometimes we’re our own worst critic. The discoloration around the decals will probably disappear (or at least less noticeable) after another coat of gloss and weathering, then a dullcoat. Looks pretty good from here! Carry on!

this looks excellent indeed and no flaw is visible. Sometimes when this happened to me, I made paper masks (not masking tape, to avoid lifting of the decal), covered the decal and then sprayed camo colors on the damaged area

this weekend I made some enhancements on the Emil’s engine (which I decided to display after some initial reservations). Eduard’s base offering is quite good. Some wiring/plumping were added, plus some round sections at the back for pumps, gearboxes, etc (these will be hardly visible, once the powerplant is installed). Nothing too precise, just a general ‘busy’ look

After some further work and painting.
The lower struts of the engine mounting were replaced by copper tube (more resilient and convincing than the flimsy plastic of the kit).
The engine and nose guns mount were then test-fitted into the fuselage, to check if eventually everything lined up decently.
Various touch ups remain to be made.

That engine is looking really good! Wiring is excellent!

Gary

I guess it’s time for another update on the Beaufort. It’s mostly coming together well but I ran into an issue with the engine install last night.

I’m going to have to revisit this, obviously, to see where I messed up. I may need to pull the cowl off if possible.

Otherwise, it’s looking good.

This looks challenging ! I will be looking forward to your root cause investigation and (hopefully) mitigation. This seems like a problem that could occur to anybody building multi-engined piston birds.
