I told you about these rivets about a week ago (first post on the previous page!):
Anyhow these are great things. Archer have quite some surface details; I also bought their no-slip surface to use on my helos.
I haven’t used it yet but if it works as fine as the rivets it’ll be great.
And … I’m … a … terd. Here I am, I thought I’d run across this greeat find, only to find out … well, I’m not that great. Sorry, Avus … I should have read more carefully. I also should have known that if there was a helo question … you would have the answer.
Sorry again … I will read my replies a little more carefully from now on. [B)]
Thanks Avus, I’m glad that you were pleased w/ ATs decals … that makes me feel better … but how in the world did they get them to you so fast!?!
As far as the build … I want so bad to take this one to a show this coming weekend, but there’s a lot of work left to do. I can’t even begin to finish up the helo until the rivet decals get here … should have never found those things (haha!). I’m going to out of town on Friday, so I have to be done w/ everything Thursday afternoon … That’s only four days!
I guess all I can do is work one step at a time and see where I end up … Either way, I most likely won’t post an update until next week. I’ll probably be staying away from the forums all together just so I can keep working …
Thanks for stopping in A10. I definitely need to get to work w/ this one … couple of things are holding me up, but I’ll be posting updates as soon as I can.
Glad you like this one. Hope you’ll follow it through.
So … its been, what?!? … a month and a half … I’ve had worse … : )
Finally, got back to this one … somewhat …
Got the helo put back together, repainted, decaled, and pretty much finished up … just a few outstanding details here and there.
Here are the 4x Delta Operators … primed and ready to be fixed up before painting …
And … a quick look at my 3rd (and final) building to be used for the base. As w/ the rest of my buildings, this one is made of Styrofoam. The shingles were made from a formed, vac-u-cast sheet of colored styrene, backed w/ styrene sheet strips to resemble wooden framing. Posts are made from tooth-pick ends and the inside was blocked off to make the building seem more “whole” when the final product is viewed.
That’s pretty much ot for right now. I’m working to finish this one up either today or tomorrow as its going to the Lone Star Figure show in Cedar Park this coming weekend. I KNEW I needed a good excuse to get this one finished! HAHA!!!
Hey MC havent seen this in a long time, i really like the heli plus the delta figs, are you going to use future or clear to make the goggles? great method on the shingles
Klaus, yes, the building does have a long way to go … I’m hoping to have something of an update before Saturday, but it might nt be until after I get back …
Tom … HAHA! Yeah, you and me BOTH!
Calvin, thankd for stopping in. Yeah, you’re right on my line of thinking w/ the Future, but that’s not coming in until the very end …
This is truly inspiring work, I just keep looking at your painted figures and every time I do I just say the same thing, “WOW”! Also, another way you could make those shingles is to take styrene rod and cut it into lengths and cut those vertically, does that make any sense? Again yours are fine and I am not saying that you should change them, it is just a suggestion for the future…
Steve! … Good to see you around! … I was afraid that I had missed the “big” event! Glad you like the progress as well. I hope it turns out as well as “Flamethrower” did…
This is FREAKING COOL! [tup] I have been following your process ever since I joined the forum. Am looking forward to see it completed so I can open a bottle of beer and drink it up for you. [#toast] AHHH! No beer, not part of my diet… bottle of wine will do!
