The USS Moscow, Baton Rouge class was the first vessel to have a transporter installed. If you look at the painting you can see a gold colored band on the secondary hull. I’ve always thought that was the transporter emitter. Hopefully the decal sheet will also contain the USS Tehran. The Moscow and the Tehran were the two ship to take part in the first ship to ship beaming.

I have learned that the Baton Rouge kit won’t be available at Wonderfest. The castings are ready but there wasn’t enough time to finish the decals. I’m quite bummed but I’m told it will be available a couple weeks after the show. I’m going to try and enter my build in the show still. Darn[:(]
All in good time my friend. Its like fine wine the longer you wait the better it gets.[:D] Hows the progress on her?
Matt
I’m holding up on attaching the nacelles until I paint it. I’m waiting on a shipment of paint. Then attach the nacelles and a couple detail peices, decal and seal. It’s already mounted to its base. I’ll have more pics up soon.
Well, I’ve been pretty busy these last couple days. I have fabricated a dish, cast the red tinted parts I need, and placed pins in the nacelles that will align the nacelles to the struts. All the pieces are done!!! Now all I have to do is paint and final assembly. [:D] Any the who I thought I’d share a couple pics before I start painting.

She looks fantastic, Woody!
Regards, Dan
Thank Dan! [:D]
There are moments in modeling that just make you happy. As I sit here tonight I can see all the shapes come together. I feel like i’ve reached into a painting and pulled an object into the world of 3-D. Something that didn’t exist as an object, now does and I’ve had a moment of joy.
Great job Woody!!
Woody she is going to be one beautiful ship when your done. BRAVO![tup]
Matt
Are you going to go with TOS-era pennants for her?
Mat & Steven, Thank you! [:D]
Masao, I’m not sure. I have a sheet of PNT “Hull Graphic Decals”. I might chose something from that. I sprayed the white base coat today and I’ll be painting the cooling fins gun metal tomorrow.
A couple more pics. Sorry about the quality of the images.

Ooooh!!! Pretty!
If this ship was in service during the time of Captain Pike (“The Cage”) it would have the standard Starfleet pennants then. What kind of pennants came before is up to you, since Mr. Sternbach didn’t show any in his painting.
Masao, I’m building this as the USS Republic, Ensign Kirk’s first deep space assignment. I can see the ship being still in service when Pike was captain of the Enterprise.
A few pics of detail areas. Please note that the impulse insert isn’t finished.

I give to you the USS Republic NCC-1371, Baton Rouge class. This puppy is done and on it’s way to Wonderfest later today. [^]

What is the latest info on when and where this model will be available? I have drooled over my “Spaceflight Chronology” book so much for this ship I had to buy a second copy…LOL
Hey Jim, The last I was told was that it would be out in June. I quit asking because they keep changing the release date. The kit is being put out by Starship Modeler and you could ask them. John Lester is the owner and this is his email address onezero@aol.com
He is a real nice guy and I’m sure he can give you a better idea about the current release date.
Woody, it turned out to be an excellent looking ship. Quick question, how did you get the two different shades, red and orange, on the end of the forward nacelle? I am going to have to go back to the original Baton Rogue post to remember how you got the nacelles to look the way they do, the sprocket look. I was thinking the it would be nice if FSM actually made a SCRATCHBUILD/KIT BASHING forum on here.
Well I cast the bussards in clear red resin and hand painted the pattern with orange and yellow acrylic paint. By the way the bussard caps provided with the kit will be much nicer than the ones I cast up, very clear.
