Bastogne trip (Battle of the Bulge anniversary)

Armor forum, thought I’d share some pix from this past weekend. Had the opportunity to drive over to Bastogne and watch the 66th anniversary events. There were re-enactors in various locations around Bastogne. The 101st HQ was set up at the old army barracks. There were numerous operational vehicles driving around town and on display. I knew I was in for a treat when I met several armored columns on the way into town. The first was led by a Sherman and the next was led by a Hetzer. Enjoy the photos.

Looks pretty cool, thanks for sharing! [B]

Thanks for the great pictures! Am I seeing a StuG III G or IV in the third pictures?

Why yes it is a StuG IV, it was great to see all those WWII vehicles, especially in running condition.

A good friend of mine and a wonderful man was in CCB, 54thAIB, 10thAD as a mortarman…

If ya got more pics, please post 'em.

WOW, that would have been cool! You’re a lucky man to see that town at that point i time!

By popular demand here are some more pix. On closer inspection the first one is in fact a StuG III, not a mark IV as I previously thought! It was a treat to see these up close.

I especially like this pic. So beautiful and serene. A far cry from what it must have been like 66 years ago. Thanks for sharing.

That StuG III is a special treat…it’s an F8 and not a G…to see it in running/working order is rare! [:D]

This was shot from the eastern edge of the perimeter where elements of the Panzer Lehr attacked. I tried to envision them coming over the ridge and down toward the farmhouse.

I’m a glutton for photos.Ya got any more?

Thanks again.These are appreciated.
