I am new to the forum, but I would like to get some sugesstions on my first diorama. I would like to do a Bastogne theme around the battle of the bulge. I have a Sherman tank and a Willy’s jeep along with the shell of a destroyed house. In addition, I have lots of figures.
I was thinking that since the battle for Bastogne was all about the road system there I would create an intersection of two roads, but I am having trouble figuring out how to position everything on the base.
All of the models are 1/35 scale, and the base is 20"x20". I know I can change the base size, but any input from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
It contains the same basic elements that you are using; a tank, a building, a car, a road intersection and some figures. No matter what you do, the building has to go in back, otherwise it blocks your normal viewing perspective. Play around with this basic configuration, reversing the positions of the tank and jeep and their orientations. Try to think of something that they could be doing; fixing the tank, the jeep, a roadblock, a check-point, refueling/rearming, or whatever you want.
Just remember not to line-up objects in the diorama, (the roads, building sides, tank, etc.), parallel to the edges of the border, keep everything on the diagonal, dioramas alined with the border don’t look right.
