Barracuda and old Ford Truck help??

Hey guys, new to the board, and fairly new to modeling.

I am currently working on a 71 Hemi Cuda as my first project. I am looking for Ford Truck models, 61-79. Anyone know where I can find them (other than eBay)?

Also, has anyone ever seen a Barracuda hood that doesnt have a blower? Was a 318 ever used in any model that you know of? I want to build a replica of a car that is in my family, but it is a 72 with a 318…

THANKS!

Matt

I’ll do some looking around and ask a few folks tomorrow morning about Cudas that dont come kitted with blown motors. I think the modeling companies went nuts with this…98% of the Cudas I have ever seen at shows are stock or slightly modified. As far as Ford Truck models…Im definitely not sure on that. I recall seeing some older truck kits that were around in the early 90’s but I cant remember who made them or what brand truck they were…

Whos the manufacturer of your Cuda kit? I have a 318 out of an AMT kit that I havent built…have all the parts for it also. I ended pulling it out to put an after market Resin Slant 6 in the model. I know I have it I just have to locate it.

The 318 and the 340 are visually identical. If you have a Revell Challenger T/A kit, you can use the engine from that, If you don’t have one, I have one . Email me and we can talk a deal.

Hi Matt,
Any 340 motor will work as a 318. The blocks are identical on the outside. If you find a single 2 barrel manifold your away, but there was the odd 318 4bbl running arround also.
If you can find an old MPC Pro Street Barracuda. (It was repopped by Ertl in 1986) I believe that this is a 1972 model. Single headlights and quad taillights. The Revell 1970 AAR will supply the 340 engine however it only has the 6-bbl setup. you’ll probably have to modify a hood to get a stock non-shaker look.
Good luck
Carl

The kit I have is Revell, and it is convertible, Im actually just using it as a starter model because Wal Mart had it and I just needed something to put together.

I am interested in getting a 318 (or 340), and Ill buy the Cuda kit and mod the hood I guess, sounds like there might not be a stock one.

Thanks for all the time and help guys…

What about this model? It is assembled, but can you disassemble models, redo them how you want, then put them back together?

thanks

Matt

welcome aboard wask!!!

For the '72 'Cuda AMT ran one a few years back as a Half Snap and Glue kit I got one I built to look like My '72 340 car, but this kit doesn’t have the engine bay & full enginr just the pan & Balancer with the lower half on the tranny but for what I was displying it for it was fantastic I also moded the hood to be the Ralley type hood with the twin scoops like my personal car,
I’ve seen this kit plenty of times on EVILBAY, this is the 1/25 1973 Barracuda kit from AMT and molded in bright yellow
