Hey guys as I’m new to the forums thought I would post some of the stuff I worked on at Fort Carson in my barracks before I left for Afghanistan. What you should know is I’m a spray can painter and hand painter. No airbrushing here. I have simple recipes for all these projects. I was a coat of Tamiya OD spray. Then using some Tamiya acrylics, and Model master paints. For weathering I started with a drybrush of Model master russian earth brown. Then I applied one of those Tamiya weathering kits that run about $10. Then dull coated them.
Great looking builds you have there. Considering the limitations you have, you’re doing pretty well. Did you leave them at Fort Carson or did you bring them to Afghanistan?
Constructor- Since we had to pack up everything in our barracks, I shipped them back home to my parents house at IL. Sadly I have not brought any kits out here, I thought about it but decided it wouldn’t work out to well. On top of that I had to much stuff to take out here anyways.
HAHA! Thought I was the only one. However, when I get home on leave in April I will buy my first airbrush for sure. There are some projects I have waiting that I want to use an airbrush with. But I will say hand painting, and spray canning can look just as good as any airbrushed kit!
You are in an enviable position where you can actually see armor and softskins 1:1. Take advantage and gather as much reference photos as you can and be careful out there.
