[?]Hello. Hamming ( Tony ) here. Has any body came accross a way to make " Barb Wire "for Dio’s. I am working on a dio that needs barb Wire for the topm of the fence.

Numerous companies; Verlinden, Eduard, Aber, etc. make PE barbed wire, both old style and modern. I’ve seen DIY methods for making old-fashioned barbed wire, but not for making modern razor wire.

hya maty, Has it got to be razer wire ??, if you want normal barbed wire, all you need is piece of wood about 12" long with two long nails tapped in on each end and some very fine nylon thread tied to each nail tight, then use some more thread but this time tie it in a knot and put a very tiny drop of cyno glue to hold it in place and cut ends down to about 1mm or so, working across line making sure you rotate the kmots so they look uneven. a bit time consuming but looks better than some pre-made wire [ you can get that sort of thread from needle craft shops ] hope this might help or it could help some one else… ian.[:)]
In my opinion,build-a-rama Has the most realistic.And you have a few options,what scale for example.I find it the most realistic wire.Plus you can get just the razor armor already to use,or mounted atop beutiful fencing.This company is unique ik it and all there Dio accessories already painted & painted. Hey, I agree with Ian above (and not just beacause we have the same name). However, what I usually do, is for posts, I use toothpicks painted like wooden stakes, and insteaf of nylon, I use some extremely thin wire i found in my basement, which is easier to make the barbs out of in my opinion. You will probably want to make sure if your buying premade stuff though, that its what your looking for. Ive seen companies try to sell just a coil of wire with no barbs as razor wire.
By the way, although Im sure nobody minds where you post, this is the armor part of the forum, meaning trucks, tanks, artillery, all that stuff specifically. You may want to add a duplicate of this post under “Dioramas” or “Techniques” snice tht is were people who know alot about building scenery and other objects. Maybe you already knew that and were jsut posting here for another reason. Maybe not, either way just thought I should let you know that might work. Ian
Here’s a trick I’ve used - get some fine lace or netting like the stuff at Hobby Lobby in the wedding materials area. Just look around and you’ll see all kinds from fine mesh to thick. You can even use metal or fiberglass window screen. Once you find the thickness and density you want just take a razor knife and start cutting a single strand out by nipping the cross threads close to a main strand. When you are finished you’ll have a long strand with a bunch of little nibs on it. Then you can stain or paint it as desired. If you want twist in the barbs just twist the strand. I haven’t tried to make razor wire but there might be some other sort of netting you could modify using this technique.
don’t forget about very fine wire you can get out of coils in tiny 6 volt motors !!!.. ian.

the armorama link is the way to go with a little bit of practice you can knock meters of it out in hours its what i do,when you get really good you can sell it.
