Kids can be so cruel sometimes but I wonder how many of the ones that hung the nickname “Banjo Eyes” on Banjo Matthews because of his thick glasses wound up being half as well known or revered as the object of their torment? He went on to become a pretty good driver and one of the most respected car builders in stock car racing, building race winning entries for people such as the Wood Brothers and the legendary Junior Johnson.
