He’s still waiting for his base to be properly finished. Better pics coming soon.
As always, this Bandai kit was a joy to build. It was cool that it’s built as a poseable “action figure”. Of course that does mean that some of the joints look a little bit weird, but they did a nice job of compromising flexibility with accuracy.
I wanted to do the pose on the front of the instructions, with his rifle in his right hand held across his body, with the left hand supporting it, but the kit just does not bend that way… at least mine won’t.
I didn’t do proper “chipping” on this kit (which is probably above my current skill level), but instead used a small sponge to dry-dab on silver splotches.
The hairspray technique for chipping is easy. Just spray the undercoat, apply 2-3 coats of hairspray, add the top coat, and then lightly scrub with a moist (not wet!) toothbrush or short stubby paintbrush. But what you’ve got looks perfect, I’d swear you’d used the hairspray technique if you hadn’t said so.
Good call! I was able to do it without his arm falling off this time, but at the cost of some shoulder separation lol. Here are a few more pics from the photo booth.
