I just completed this build yesterday. Hope you like it.

Hey Golanthius, just saw your post in the Welcome forum. Glad to have you here![snWcm]

Thanks for sharing the pics of the Y-Wing.

Is the gold cockpit perchance a reference to the Gold group from Star Wars?

I like how you picked out a few of the details with red and yellow and the wear on the engine exhausts. What method did you use to show the wear on the metal?

Hope you’ll continue sharing your work with us!

Cool! I didn’t know there were any PE kits for the Y-Wing. Do you recall who the maker was? Thinking about snagging one to add to the Y-Wing I have in my stash. [:)]

I really do like the look it produced. It’s a lot simpler than what I was thinking. Simple solutions = goodness. [:D]

Yeah. that looks really good! The gold cockpit is really eye-catching and the copper fuel lines stand out nicely against the silver/aluminum of the hull. [ht]

The PE kit is from Green Strawberries.

Thanks Rob for posting these pics. I’m not sure how to insert the pics into the thread. I could only insert the link.

Thanks! I’ll be picking up one of those.

@Golanthius Well I am only 9 months late, but I must commend you for your work on the Y-Wing. As a kid, I had a book called “The Art of Star Wars” that had a full page photo of the “hero” model they built for the first movie. I used to salivate over the idea of getting a model of the Y-Wing, but in those days the only kits were MPC’s X-Wing and Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter. Your build looks comparable to that ILM model.

Yyeesss, that looks nice! Really do wish that bandai would have kept making star wars models. There is still so much that could be done.

Wait – is Ban Dai not doing Star Wars any more?

Also – @Golanthius – wondering if you think that greenstrawberry PE set was worth it. These kits are so detailed to begin with, I can’t decide whether or not to get the aftermarket.

I believe they are still producing what they have, but there has not been anything new in a few years.

WOW! Your detail painting on the topside and in the cockpit is outstanding. The best Y-Wing that I’ve seen!
