Bandai 1/144 X-Wing COMPLETED (bottom pg.1)

Stik-

Your x wing looks good. I never noticed the red bars indicating squadron member. I’m just finishing up the 1/72 bandai at-m6. They’re really fun quick kits. I also have the x wing kit. Looking forward to building it.

Nice work. [Y]

Edit: No way the at-m6 I’m building 1/72. It’s not marked with a scale. Internet guess is 1/550. Fits in your hand.

Thanks Ted! This build now has me quite sold on these Bandai Star Wars kits in any scale.

Thanks, wasn’t sure about Porkins. I’ve got Star Wars on Blu-Ray and really really need to get around to rewatching it.

You do! But isnt the Blu Ray the revamped version? With all the bad changes…

anyways…

And it wouldn’t be Red Leader, without his own Droid, R5-D4

and to give an idea of how small this kit is…

just under 100mm (4 inches) in length…

Oh wow, 10cm!?! Guess it didn’t click with me how small 144th scale was here till now. That is even more sharp work considering how small it is.

I’m not sure about my edition of the movie- it’s supposed to have the ‘original’ and the ‘enchanced’ on different sides of the disc. I need to pull them out and check them- I think though the ‘original’ cut is just the laserdisc version burned to a Blu-Ray without any attempt to clean-up the prints.

Thanks Gamera.

The DVD I have with the original 1977 version and the “special edition” is the same thing. The original was made from the laser disc. I still prefer that version, grainy appearance and all. George got it right the first time.

Stik,

I think I have the same DVD set you have. When I bought it I made a decree that no Special Edition versions shall be watched in my house, ever.

I first saw Star Wars in the summer of 1977, and I want my memories to always stay that way.

LOL!

Good man G!

I pulled mine out and yeah- they’re regular DVD. I’m not sure why I was thinking they were Blu-Ray. Probably the same version you and Real G have. I can’t argue- grain and all gotta love them as I first saw them.

Today things fell into place for photos of my X-Wing build…

“IT’S AWAY!!!”

Thanks for looking, comments and critiques welcome.

Stik-

I know some of the Bandai models have posable parts. Is that true for the wings of the x-wing?

T e d

Yes, the wings are movable/posable. I hope that the base paint locks them in the open position. I had thought about the closed position, but since there is no heat down option on this kit, i went with the open position.

Super job! Looks so good it’s a little hard to believe she’s only 144th scale though!

Thanks Gamera… I had no idea that they could cram such detail in such a small model.

As Lord Vader would say, “Impressive… most impressive.”

I bought many of those foil bagged Revell kits at a closeout store called Tuesday Morning (named for the day they received their weekly shipments). They were $2.99 and had Anakin’s Jedi fighter, Vader’s TIE, as well as a few other kits. They were very impressive, pre-decorated, well engineered and sanp tite.

I know Revell also released them in blister packs for around $10 at stores like Walmart.
