Balancing act

I have had this drangon kit for many years. It was a pain to build but a fun challange. She has fought me every step of the way and im still not finished[B)]. I just had to mock it up to see what she looked like.

Thad

Looks pretty sweet to me. What was the purpose behind that design anyway? Greater distance?

Thad:

That;s one of those builds where we, the viewers, would have no idea the kit fought you by looking at the pictures. It looks like, so far, you’ve handled everything at’s thrown at you. And it certainly is an interesting subject…one you rarely see on a display shelf.

A question I ask from ignorance: are the landing gear on the 190 supposed to be down? I’m just curious.

The Ju88 is packed with explosive nose and was droped on a target.

Mucker, I saw one pic of this beast on the ground and its wheels were down but in the air I have know idea. The markings, camo were all made up. I plan on doing a dio with this.

Thad

Looks great up or down, Thad. Neat addition to any collection.

Its looking very nice, I’ve always wanted to add a Mistel to my collection.

Looking good so far keep up the good work. I’ve seen them with gear up and gear down. They also used bf-109’s Here’s a link to pics of various Mistel combos.

Very, very sharp! That is a neat kit. Your camo work looks very convincing.

Andy

Nice camo work on the 88. I like the mistel’s ,What a way to get rid of used up ju88’s. As for the landing gear, it doesn’t matter. When they assembled the 190 to the ju88 the gears were down. prior to take off the pilot would retract them. Both planes look good so far, the only thing I see is the swastika is missing from the tails.

Ya I thought that to but the sample pic I was working off of did not have them on either. I still have some work to do before Im done with her.

Thad

Very nice work Thad. I always likes the look of the Mistral. I have a dragon set also in 1/72 scale and was wondering if your is also the same. If so give us a brief of the problem areas so I know what I am in for for whenever I get around to building it.

Steve

Great looking build so far Thad. [tup] Keep us posted. I especially like the very authentic looking weathering on the flight deck. How on earth did you do it? [;)]

Steve, This was the 1/48 scale kit and it had fit problems all threw it.

Dave, I have been working on that weathering for going on ten years now. I just got the scale wrong.

Thad

Now thats a SWEET Build

Bud

Wouldn’t you get some really loud, strange noises if you retracted both sets of landing gears prior to take off? Just curious.

KINGTHAD -Very nice rendition of the Mistel

Hahhaaa! it would make for a rough take off and an angry ground crew. qmiester, you got me on that one! Just remember what they say about pay backs. Nice to see a sense of humor.

O/T but you can fly a Mistel mission in IL-2. Just thought I’d lay this out there. Great build, the proboscus must have been hell to paint.
