Back in the Saddle, with Seversky on Bench

Been away for a while, but I’m happy to report I’m up and running after an extensive home office remodel. My solution for a new aircraft work center was this rolltop desk, bought used for a song. Lots of drawers and cubbys, for all my modelin’ junk. Left and right “breadboard” pullouts expand my table area. And, when my bratty, undisciplined nephews pop in for an unwanted visit, I just roll it shut! No more sticky fingers!

And what’s on the grille? I picked up a 1:48 Hobbycraft Seversky P-35 on Ebay for a buck or two not long ago, and thought I’d give it a whirl. Not much to show now, but more to come.

On a more fun, wacky, whimsical note, FSM had the bad taste to actually include one of my abominations in the May reader gallery, ya-hoo!

Swwweeettt radial!! Nice workcenter, too.

Dan

Looking good, ModelNerd !

Did you happen to see Bob Steinbrumm’s P-35 in FSM a few years ago?

Looking forward to the progress !

Didn’t see that one. But you should see (if you didn’t already) the 1:35 Williams Bros P-35 by Mike McLeod over at http://aircraftresourcecenter.com . To die for.

Like the bench. Nice start on the P-35. Keep us posted.

Regards, Rick

Groovy… nice idea for a bench. What markings you gonna put on this P-35?

Fade to Black…

Welcome back Nerd -

Looking forward to your build progress reports. I enjoyed the ones you did on the Mustang. And now when I see “Modelnerd” I think of a guy with his head sandwiched between two kit boxes.

Chris

looks good on both the desk and the build.

Well, the kit had two choices (17th and 94th Pursuit Squadrons), but since I wanna put a yellow cowl ring on it, I’m scanning the squadron markings from my Williams Bros. 1:35 scale kit, re-drawing, then scaling them down to make a 27th Pursuit Squadron plane. We’ll just see if this “inkjet decal” thingey really works like they say it does!

Looks awesome Modelnerd… can’t wait to see your abom… err… picture in the reader gallery. The desk is a cool idea.
