Back in the saddle.... Finished OA-4M pics

So after a PCS move, buying a new house and trying to move into place thats a little to small… I finally got on the ball and started building again. I wanted something quick, and easy to get me going again… something OOB, So I raided my stash and dug out something I wasnt planning on putting alot of work into

Decent model… not meant to be built with the gear up. If you choose to do this you’ll be doing alot of filling. Once the model was built I traced all panel lines with a sharpie to accent them for weathering. It looked good after I painted it… until I added a coat of future that is. For some reason the future highlighted them and it didn’t go away after dull coat.

The decals are ok… rather thick, and still silvered a little bit even using Future. But good enough for the results I was looking for.

Any question please ask and as always comments/constructive critisism is welcome.

Well you just learned the hard way to not use sharpies to preshade panel lines. They always bleed through, no matter what media you put on top of it. Good work otherwise!

PCS huh? Been there, done that, and gave away the t-shirt! Your bird looks pretty good to me. I like it.

Nice Jet!And that quarter-sawn oak table ain’t bad either!

Really nice looking Scooter! How is the old Monogram kit as far as fit, accuracy, etc? I have a couple of these in the stash, and seeing how nicely yours turned out, I just might get one out and attack it! Very nice work, no criticisms at all!

Thanks for the comments guys… glad you like my lil’ scooter

Brian the fit on this thing is pretty good… but as you can see I built this thing gear up as I plan on hanging it saving shelve space for my more detailed models. I dont know how the fit would be if I built it gear down but trying to close the wheel wells was an area I failed. If you try this be prepared to sand and fill to make it look decent. It has raised panel lines (as do most monogram kits) but that doesnt bother me so much… As I was just looking for something to get me started again I didnt put alot of effort into this kit… hardly any research short of a photosearch on airliners.net to see if there was supposed to be a frame brace down the center top canopy. Other than that I built it using box art and artistic license. The decals are thick and lack the detail of whats available now adays but Im not sure what if any aftermarket sets are available.

I hope that give you an idea what your in for. Lookin forward to seeing your done.

Very nice work, thanks for sharing!

Glad to see you’re building again, Awood23! Nice job on the build and, yes, sharpies aren’t recommended for preshading!

Nice build, Awood. Glad you’re back and looking forward to more of your builds. Great colors on your bird, too.

Nice work on the little Scooter. The panel lines are a little strong, as you said, but still look very nice.
