BACK FROM VACATION! Making progress on the M-10 (PICS)

Rejuvenated and back from vacation and making progress! Here are some up dates on the Academy M-10 Duckbill

I finished the basecoat and have started to add the “extras”

Finally happy the the look of the tarp, just need to weather it a little

Added a Camo Net on the barrel (insipred by Shermanfreak!) Those gaps will go away, I will secure the upper and lower hull after I attach the treads.

Fixed the tool outlines on the back, still need to add the bolt heads back on.

I truely love this kit, and look forward the starting the Jackson next!

Excellent work ‘Hattals’. The tarp and camo net on the barrel look fantastic. Well done!!!

Looking nice Richard. I presume that you will leave the engine bay open to show off that work. Perhaps you should turn the turret sideways a little more to get the duck bills out of the way. This will let you see more in the engine bay and down the Drivers hatch too … there is a lot to see in there and it looks like it is worth seeing too.

May I be a pain and mention that 2 of the ‘arrow’ bits (the ones on the mantlet and rear of the turret) are missing. The kit does not provide them, but they are actually needed, one each side between the .50 cal and the ones already there. These were pulled backwards on the real thing and the ends inserted into eyelets in the tarp cover to hold it up so the turret crew could see out. No biggie for you as the vehicle looks like it is getting maintenance at the rear lines and the tarp slung over is fine. Just slip some replacemnts in there and all will be good.

Coming right along! Looking good.
What color is your basecoat?

Thanks for all the kind words!

JHULK: I started with a dark coat of JA Green, then applied lite coats of olive green, then olive drab, and finally olive drap with a few drops of tan. All Tamiya Acryl. It is the first time I tried this method and I am happy with the results.

richard it looks awesome to me. i really like it.

joe

Question for you:

What is that nice shade of drab that you are using. I’m a fan of Tamiya Acrylics, but thier O.D. Green is like a greenish shade
of black.

Great looking M10, Richard.

I like the tarp and camo netting…the paint job looks good too.

Regards, Dan

Thanks for the kind words all, it really is a nice kit.

gderue: That is Tamiya Acrylic Olive Drab(XF-62) which was softened with some tan. I started with a dark coat of JA Green, then applied lite coats of olive green, then olive drab, and finally olive drap with a few drops of tan. I like to put on thin coats in layers starting with dark then fading to light.

THANKS AGAIN!

hey, its takin shape!!! can’t wait to see it completed

Looking GREAT!!!

hattals, looks great. Thanks for the pics and the info on the paint job. I’ll have to try that myself.
