B45

Has anyone made a model of the North American B45 Tornado 4 engine bomber? We Had these in our squadron in England from 1955 to 1958. This plane was somewhat unusual and worthy of a kit I’d say.

Back in the 80s, I know there was a 1/72 vacu kit, but can not remember who did it…

I believe that a French company Called MACH manufactured this kit in 1/72 scale.
I heard the tooling was of poor quality and the kit was quite exoensive. This weas about ten years ago.
Good luck

I believe FROG made one ages ago in an odd box scale. In 1/72 scale, The two mentioned above are correct. The vac kit was by a English company called Aeroform in the late 70’s. The Mach2 kit should still be available (try Squadron) but it’s short-run technology and pretty crude. I have one and it’s gonna take a lot to get a good model out of that kit!

Pat

I have an Aeroform B-45 vac on my to do pile. Looks decent enough for an early vac. Can be made as a B-45C or RB-45C and has a great decal sheet. Draw back is there is no other media but the vac parts.

Great Models (www.greatmodels.com) lists the Mach2 kit as a special order item for $48.60.

I’d love to see the B-45 as a 48th scale injection molded kit along with all variants
of the B-66 and A-3

A firm called “Gerald J. Elliot vacuforms” has an 1/72 scale “vac” B-45; it comes with metal parts and is a reasonable good kit. BTW, “Gerald J. Elliot” is now the owner of many “Contrail vacuforms” molds/kits.

I have the Mach 2 “kit.” If you pay more than $5 for it you will be disappointed and angry.

ebay has a couple of the vacuform and the mach2 kits along with a flight manual listed
