done it got the pictures good kit , bit flimsey over 1 meter long though, the under carriage a bit brittle other wise ok for a revell kit, there is some good aftermarket stuff for this kit now, and two bobs do a nice set o decals (seek and destroy)

Everytime I think about doing this one all I have to do is just think back to my brother doing one while we were in high school…and him having to place a ceiling hook into a stud to hang the thing. Yeesh.
Good luck with your build, I’m sure it’ll turn out great!
Looks good sean. Noticed you did an Ellsworth machine though. There are now two squadrons flying the bone, Ellsworth AFB, SD and Dyess AFB, Tx. They recently retired 60+ machines to have enough money to upgrade the rest of the fleet. Heres some interesting tidbits for you. The first B-1B into service was ‘Star of Abilene’ and she was retired in July of last year to the museum at Dyess AFB. All training for B-1 operations is conducted at Dyess AFB. At any given moment 40-50% of the machines are non-operational. This airplane is a maintenance nightmare and is constantly being repaired and upgraded. When I lived in Abilene I spent most of my free time sitting at the end of the runway watching the B-1s’ doing touch and goes. If I was lucky one would light the afterburners and at night that was a beautiful thing. Four two hundred foot long blue flames and a deep, loud rumbling noise. Where I sat at the planes would be 75 feet over my head, needless to say this was very painful, but it was worth it!! Only an airplane nut would understand what I mean by this.
I am glad that someone else out there is as mad as me, and has got one!! I have got all the aftermarket bits, so one day I will actually build one.[banghead][banghead]
Sean, does the B-1 come with decals for Dyess Air Force Base?
Thanks for the feedback guys… I was afrais that I had gotten a piece of junk kit, but it trully looks nice… what aftermarket parts are available???

Hawk, The decals you want will be for the 7th BW. And I beleive it does come with them.
Very nice Sean
i’m not to sure mate , i bought a set of seek and destroy decals from twobobs , and painted the b1 with humbrol paint
I did that nose art about 5 years ago. The crew chiefs name was Dave Justice, so I made sure to paint it LARGE on the jet.

ah thats the one i got on the side
There is a good full-build review over on Modeling Madness.com, plus several other articles on this kit over on Aircraft Resource Center .com. The Jet aircraft forum on the ARC disc. boards has a pretty good thread on building the B-1. I’ve posted several in-progress pics of the B-1 I’ve been working on for about two years now.
Cutting Edge makes a set of resin featherless exhaust nozzles, & produced three B-1 decal sheets. Eduard makes a PE detail set, & Fox One decals also makes a few decal sheets.

Yowsa…Sean…that looks great…and huge!

I lived in Abilene for 6 mos back in '90. I did the same thing. We would park at the small ball field and then grab the coolers and the chairs and plunk ourselves down and start drinking. Lots of fun!!! Now I live in OKC and they repair alot of the B-1s over at Tinker AFB. I have taken several tours of the place. It is kind of cool to see the B-1s parked right next to the B-52s on the ramp and see the difference 50 years makes in technology.
Cgarman, I know the ball field well. You can’t sit there after dark anymore because of a Tye city ordinance. The best place now is on Airbase Drive just to the east of the driveway of Key City Painting. The entrance to their driveway is actually on the center line of the runway. At that point you are 500 feet from the threshold and the planes are from 75 to 100 feet over your head when landing and about 200 feet over your head on take off, which is a good thing as they use full power to launch!
well im off to fairford in july 18th , they got 1 static , 1 flying cant wait for the noise
that was just HUGE, I got to get me one of those, wonder if they make a 1/48 B-52?
sangar might do one in 1/48 vac form
Sean, after the bone flies, listen for all of the car alarms. This bird is very noisy and it has a deep rumble to it that car alarms hate. If you get the chance watch the takeoff for the after burners. She has to use full burner for takeoff. Its very impressive, all the more so at night!
