Does anyone know who makes engines for a 1/72 scale B-52? I’m redoing my Revell B-52G, I took off the kit engines and would like to replace them with some newer upgraded ones. Thanks![8D]My bad. The model is Ertl’s B-52. I saw an ad awhile ago for modelmecca.com but I checked but couldn’t find the kit …
I assume that when you say “engines” you are referring to the entire nacelle with two engines. The model has the front compressor face and the exhaust with nothing in between, (inside). www.golddragprod.com has several resin accessory and conversion kits for the B-52. Several have yet to be completed and released.
If you are referring to the actual, complete turbine engine itself, the only source I know of is the old Monogram B-52D. It had an option to show one nacelle open with the engine exposed. The “D” used an earlier version of the J-57 engine than did the “G”, so it would not be entirely accurate. The most obvious difference being that the G used an external, air driven generator, which produced an obvious bulge on the lower left side of each double engine pod. In other words, only the #1, #3, #5 and #7 engines had this generator. [alien]
What you are looking for is TF33-p-3 or103 engines I will look in my back issues of FSM there were resin TF’s put out around the early 90’s and may still be had.
I don’t mean to be argumentative, but the TF-33 turbo fan engines were only on the “H” model BUFF. The F and G both used the same version of the J57-P43W. This differed in appearance from the D and E by having the air driven generator on the lower left side of the #1, #3, #5 & #7 engines. All 8 engines had a dome on the front face that housed engine accessories instead of the flat face of the A, B, C D & E. [alien]
I thought the engines you want, are to convert your G to a newer version.?? Thus the only one left is the H. Could it be you are seeking a more detailed engine of the J57-43w that it would have came with? I also have alot of B-52 ref. If you would like copys of alot of H mod. struff. Worked on them for 10 years and also the TF33-P-5 and 9. KC-135 and RC-135. but 22 with TF’s. Hope this will help you.

Your interpretation of klem’s question is an aspect I had not thought of. If he wants to update his G to an H, then yes, he needs the TF-33. He will also need to change the tail turret from the quad .50 calibre to the 20mm gatling gun as well as it’s radar. Other than the tail guns and engines, the G and H are externally, pretty much the same airplane. Where did you work on BUFFsand 135s? I spent 12 years at Beale AFB with the SR-71 program and they also had a flight line and alert ramp full of G model BUFFs. Then I went to Andersen AFB, Guam, for 2 years with the B-52D. [alien]
Minot 81 to 84 and 94 to 03 Buffs. 84 to 94 KC-135A and R mods, FB111A at plattsburgh .Now I am Civil service At Offutt on RC-135’s. The easy tail gun option would be to get rid of it as they took them off around 94 and installed a plate. I had a crewchief friend that worked SR71 at Beal Laforce? Know him?
The name very vaguely rings a bell, but I can’t place him. My memory cells are deleting themselves very rapidly at my age. I am lucky to remember my own name, let alone some else’s. [alien]
Why Not Minot, P’Burg and Awful Air Plane Patch! You must like cold weather. I spent most of my career in Texas, California and the western Pacific, so I got used to sunshine[:D] instead of that D _ _ _ white stuff.[xx(]
I forgot my year in Iceland, but the cold never bothered me. All of my time was spent on the flightline and 4years as a engine instructor. I also know the memory glitches have alot of them myself. Take it easy. P.S. profile has my E-mail if you want get in touch too talk Buff or other acft. Very interested in the SR71. later.
I know this is an old post but I just wanted to say that this is great information! I was looking for resin engines to use on my Monogram B-52D to convert it to a B-52F. I knew I needed J57-P43W, but I did not know that it was the same engines used on the “G” model. Engines & Things make the engines for the “G” model but they only list it as such, not as J57-P43W. Of course it is supposed to fit the AMT kit but I am sure I will have no problem fitting them to the Monogram kit. With this information my search is over.
