This is one BIG MUTHA BEAR ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Ancient engines that would probably need to be replaced. God only knows what other work would be necessary before it would be safe to fly. It certainly would be impressive up close on the ground or in the air.

I wonder if consumer model airplane radio controls existed in 1952 even if an antenna is installed.
There were very primitive radio control sets available for model airplanes in those days, but they were HUGE & HEAVY and the reliability was very poor. They used vacuum tubes instead of transistors or IC chips. The filaments in vacuum tubes definately DO NOT like the kinds of vibration in most model airplanes.
I took a night school course in 1962 for radio and TV repair. The school was just transitioning from teaching vacuum tube technology to transistors. Talk about dinosaurs of the electronic world.

There was or is a video on Youtube of a B-36 model flying with Glamorious Glennis. It looked like a pretty large bird.
I had a brief overview of vacuum tubes in school, The grid voltage had to be substantial and I presume stuffing enough batteries for bumping up the voltage would be the biggest challenge.
I can remember vacuum tube testers in the local stores well into the late 1960s … our family Zenith B&W tv was always sending us to the store with tubes for testing and replacement. The back of one of those sets was NOT a good place to stick your hand if you didn’t know what you were doing.
Yeah I know because somehow the house would smell like bacon with every mistake.[whstl]

That’s one huge model. I even wonder if those engines can provide the power to get it off the ground [:D]
That has to be a control line model, but one you would use a steel pole to anchor the lines. No throttles on the engines either, a clear clue. A major project any way you look at it.
Wouldn’t be hard to RC it with modern day RC gear but you would need more powerful engines with a higher T/W* Ratio for each bay to haul that massive bomber into the sky and replace the jets with more reliable Fan jets . Just think about adding a bomb bay and dropping paint bombs with the space saved by adding modern equipment.

Good grief! I wouldn’t touch that thing with a 10 foot pole. Bet it never flew. By the time you got that last engine started, the first would be out of fuel! Built in 1952, disassembled, and he wants $3000? Lotsa luck!
Wish I could find the article on the (1/5th scale ?) R/C B-29 built for “Empire of the Sun”… Claims it took four people to fly it (same as the CAF’s B-29 Fifi’s minmum flight crew)…
