I was an unfortunate buyer of a bogus kit off eBay. The pic showed a decal sheet, but I believe the seller purposely covered the F-16 part to make it look like there were USAF decals for it. Long story short, I got shafted…first by the seller, then by paypal.
so…now I have a model without decals. Is there anywhere I can get replacements???
in case anyone is interested, i have a decal set for an F-16…I think its for the Monogram 1/48 kit…the one with the red, white, and blue paint scheme. it seems to be in good condition. drop a line if you want it. its free so shouldn’t be a problem.
I believe Revell can get you the decals, if not, there’s a few companies that offer aftermarkets. Super Scale has a sheet (#72-271) but it is only for the B-36A/B models. Modeling Madness has a review of the kit with a lot more information, sorry I can’t link you to it because I use Firefox.
Thanks Matt…but it seems that they are out of production. this ebay dude really gave me the shaft. unfortunately, ebay/paypal have no clue about what is being sold. i tried a dispute, but since they are so ignorant, i lost. now i’m stuck with this thing and i don’t know what to do.
First, is this the Monogram 1/72 or one of the Minicraft 1/144s? One option is seeing if you can locate an extra sheet for the Hasegawa B-47. Markings on the B-36 were usually kept to a minimum so all you’ll need are the national insignia and the SAC sash. Serial numbers can be hobbled together from an extra sheet or you can purchase a sheet from one of the AM decal manufacturers that has generic USAF numbers on it, the last one I bought cost me 7.99. Worst comes to worst send me an e-mail and I’ll buy the kit off of you, if the price is reasonable (I don’t know how much you gave for it to start with and I don’t know how much shipping will be). Although the good lord knows what I’ll do with another 1/72 scale B-36. I have three in the stash right now and two of them have damaged decals.
Scalemaster did a set of decals for the B-36 in 1/72, but some of the kit decals are needed unless they can be found from some other airplane. There are also aftermarket decals available for the Hasegawa B-47. As was said, the B-36 didn’t have a lot of markings. Most were in black and you can make with an inkjet and inkjet decal paper, except for the SAC shield and sash, and those are around.
