B-29 Decals

I have bought the Monogram B-29 kit #5700. Aside from SWMBO’s shock at the size of it, and demands for an extension to the house to be able to house it all, the decals in the kit are a little damaged. At some point in time, they have adhered to some of the support material that is provided in the kit box, and so some have become stuck to the supporting paper.

If I am lucky, on application to the model, this extra paper will become separated from the underlying decal. However, is anyone aware of any AM decals - particularly for the Enola Gay? After all, if you are to build a single example of a B-29 (I’m not building a warehouse to house my large scale models!! [:0]), which other B-29 would you build!!! [;)]

I have both Enola Gay and Bocks Car in 1/72nd by Academy.
Along with my Pan Am B377 Strat, they will take up a lot of space , but they are beautiful kits AND you can display all 3 together which you couldn’t do in 1/48th.
Academy have an extensive B17/24/29/50/377/C and KC97 selection.

I bought 4 for the price that I would have to pay to get one here!

or here http://meteorprod.com/ click search and insert B-29, look at the Pyn-up sets - boy howdy those will open your eyes.As to which one I would build, the last one was “Dragon Lady”

and the next one will be “Nip on Knees”

How could you NOT want to build the “Lucky Lady”?

By the way, Swanny, VERY nice looking Dragon Lady!

Of course, there is always the Pyn-Up set for Dauntless Dotty. She’s the B-29 that Robert Morgan flew in the Pacific after successfully flying 25 missions over Europe in the Memphis Belle (Yes, I know not all 25 missions were in the Belle, but he and parts of his crew flew 25, and the Belle flew 25, and they flew the all important last one together) Of important note is the fact that Morgan flew Dauntless Dotty as the lead plane in the first raid over Tokyo.

Just FYI, Morgan didn’t pilot Dotty on the first mission; Brigadier General Rosie O’Donnell was the pilot on that mission. A Square 1 did lead that mission, however.

However, while they were first over the target, they weren’t first back from the mission. A square 5, Waddy’s Wagon, was first back. They arrived a full 30 minutes before the next plane did.
