What is the interior color for a Martin B-26?

I’d go with 'yer standard interior green on this one.

The last site has some pretty nice shots of a French Marauder undergoing restoration. The second last link hasn’t any real value to the modeler, but is a very thought provoking site.

Thanks BW, I have the airfix 1/72 version of this plane (I got impatient and grabbed the 1st one I came across…should have held out for the Revell, and isn’t Monogram going to reissue this?) I love this bird. The Squadron book I picked up is just one of the “in action” versions and doesn’t have alot of interior detail info. I appreciate the sources.

Pilot compartment and bombadier are zinc chromate/interior green per USAAC specs for that era.Radio compartment and gunners station in rear were natural metal as was bomb bay.Hope this helps.

Natural metal… There were a few shots on the Flak Bait page that showed this, but I wasn’t sure.

Where’d you find that info, Captain? I haven’t much in the archives on the Marauder, one of those that I’m sorely lacking info on. Please lemmee know. Thanks!

No, the Aifix kit is excellent, for it’s age, and for a 1/72nd scale kit it is pretty detailed. I got the Eduard set for this kit and it is pretty intense. Your ok with the Airfix kit IMHO. [;)]

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the airfix kit uscusn, it has its moments though. Like a raven I saw the sparkley and grabbed it. I picked up the squadron clear canopy add-ons. So at least it won’t have coke bottle windows. Other than that I’m just getting into this kit and am plodding along…

Interior color in Interior Green. My late aunt helped build them in Omaha, and I have old factory photos and newletters with publicity stills that show that as the predominant interior color, with natural metal bomb bay areas and after fuselage. The Airfix kit is still a good kit- I’ve built three. The old Revell kit has been re-released by Revell-Germany in the last couple of years. - Ed

I know that this does not address the topic, but your question regarding the B26 triggered something I saw about 10 years ago while working for the Newfoundland and Labrador Geological Survey in a place called Saglek, Labrador.

At the site on a rocky headland about 1700’ ASL, there was wreckage of a WWII B26 that crash landed after getting lost while in transit from Greenland to Goose Bay, Labrador. I done a little digging and found the following link which is the diary of the pilot. All crew eventually died from exposure/starvation and they were only about 3 hours walk from an Inuit settlement.

I think the old adage no luck but bad luck would apply here. Its too bad brave men like these guys had to die with help so close.
