Hey guys, any advice on a good kit of the B-25G would be appreciated.
I’ve heard lots of great things about the Accurate Miniatures kits, but then I’ve also heard of lots of fit problems. Is there a kit with a better fit? Or is there a really nifty 1/72 kit of the plane? (I mean the earlier ones, before they removed the 75mm from the nose in 1944.) Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Don’t you dare listen nor believe anyone who says the Accurate Miniature kit of the B-25 has fit problems! Probably the best model I’ve ever built is that very kit. No fit problems whatsoever. I don’t even know where to begin to describe how wonderful their B-25 kit is. Just do yourself a favor and RUN out and buy one!
As far as 1/72 scale, I beleive it was Italeri who made a great kit. I built it about ten years ago and it was very nice. I thought I heard that Hasegawa made a B-25G kit as well. I’m sure they would do a great job as well if they did, in fact, produce the kit.
Hasegawa recently released B-25J & H kits in 1/72 and they are excellent. No G model yet, but wait a while, these are far superior to the Italeri kits.
Larry,
Eric is right! Anyone who says that any Accurate Miniatures B-25 isn’t worth the money is mentally deficient (with apologies to those out there who may be disabled). There are no serious flaws with the kit - it doesn’t “fall together” like a Tamiya kit, but it’s worth every second you spend building it.
The 1/48 AM B-25 is fantastic.
The Hasegawa 1/72 scale is a little gem, and a while ago I built an Italeri 1/72 scale B-25 (can’t remember which one) and that ended up looking great.
Regarding fit problems with the AM B-25 kits. The first one I built was from the first production run of the B-25B “Doolittle” kit and the fit was very bad due to warpage of the main fuselage halves & the wings. I later tried a B-25C/D kit and fit was excellent. I think AM may have had some mold or production issues with the early runs and corrected the problems with later runs. So at least some of those who got the early runs did have some major fit issues.
