B-24 Interior plans

I’ve got a couple of Revell 1/48th B-24s on my todo list, and I wanted to make them into highly detailed “tour de force” kits, as they’ll be on display side by side. I’ve picked up the Flightpath etched set which helps out with the cockpit & bomb bay, and I’ve also got some .5 cal guns (Aires or similar). The only remaining problem I have is getting detailed plans for the interior of the main fuselage that can be seen through the open bomb bay and waist gunner windows.

I’ve seen the detailing article on the B-24 (1/72nd) from a back issue of this magazine, and may be able to lift some info from that, scaling it up to fit my “bigger bird”, but I’d really like to make it super accurate, and something I can be proud of. Anyone got any reference material that I can pillage/borrow/have a copy of?

Thanks in advance [;)]

I have a Squadron ‘B-24 in Action’ book. I can take a look and scan any images of the bomb bay it has and e-mail them to you or post them.

That would be very helpful of you, thanks! [;)]

Look here … http://www.b24bestweb.com/

Hi Swanny - thanks, but I already looked there. I find the site a mite confusing, and struck out. I did post a request on the forum though. Who knows?

Can’t vouch for it’s accuracy, but:

Also may want to check the walkarounds at the ARC:

More grist to the mill, thanks. I’ve got 4 books on the B-24 now, and there are some pics and diagrams of the interior in there too, so it looks like I’m getting there slowly. The ideal scenario would be to get hold of some 3-view plans, but that would just be too easy!

I’ll post some links to images here, late tonight. Sorry, I forgot last night.

Sorry, I need to find[/] my B24 ‘in Action’ book before I scan it.

If anyone’s interested, I [i]did find my Zero, P-38 and F6F ‘in Action’ books.

See if you can find a copy of B-24 in Detail and Scale along with the In Action book.

Hey mikeiw
What back issue was that you mentioned in your original question?

It was September 2004 http://www.finescale.com/fsm/default.aspx?c=a&id=1574, and that should take you to the page on the site where you can see a PDF of the article. That’s what’s responsible for making me rush out & buy a pair!
