This is the Aeroclub 48 kit of the RAAF B 2 Canberra, this finished model is of Magpie 21 the aircraft that was lost during the Veitnam conflict.
It has been built for the RAAF’s OTS as per there instructions on this project.
The model is not mine and was not built by me, it was built by one of my co founders and is posted here with permission.
Not bad for a vacform, is it?[8D][bow][bow][bow] Seriously, a very beautiful model of a great and sadly underexposed plane. (gimme one in 1/48 styrene please, vacform may be out of my leage). As Phil said, I’d like to hear the story about how it got shot down, and what it was doing in Vietnam in the first place.
Beautiful Canberra. Both Eng Elec and Martin variants in 1/48 styrene have been on my wish list for so very, very long, I’m now willing to try the vac form. Where can it be had?
Filibert,
The Australians had quit a presense in 'Nam. There was at least one squadron of Canberra’s deployed there. I have also seen pics of Huey’s (D’s or H’s) that they had in country. There was also a large armored force with Centurian Tanks and M-113’s.
I just hadn’t heard about the plane being lost.
Wow, Aussie Centurions in 'Nam, that would be a nice subject for a vignette… Oops! Sometimes I really have to fight the Dark Side, especially with that backwards build floating around[:O][:I].
