B-17E conversion moves forward

Progress on my B-17E conversion of the Revell 1/48 B-17F moves forward.

A few more days and she will be heading for the paint room.

Hey Swanny;
Are you using the old Monogram B-17G with the Revell B-17F?, Reason is that the wings are a Greyish Silver and all the B-17F’s I’ve built where O.D. or are you building a Revell Gremany offering?

No. She is all Revell/Paragon (1979 issue). The wings have been primed already but will need another coat as I have found a few areas to touch-up. You can read about the build on my site.

Sharp looking build so far!

Thanks Keyworth.

Looking good, Swanny. Are you adding the remote-controlled belly turret ? What markings/theater have you chosen ?

Man, i can tell she’s going to be one nice looking ship! What are you using for the plexiglass nose piece? (Can’t really see it in the picture)

Pix, the remote controlled belly turret is being installed and the sighting holes have been cut into the fuselage already. This will be done as a lend/lease aircraft in RAF markings for Coastal Command, light gray under with dark green/dark sea gray uppers.

Shrikes, the nose is a replacement vac piece that was included with the Paragon conversion kit. The kit also includes the sighting dome for the belly. The nose is masked with strips of masking tape and liquid frisket material.

Looks great let us see it when it is done, congrats man! [:)]

A word for it , Nice! , cant wait to see the whole of it later

Major assembly is now complete. She came out of the paint room about an hour ago and this is what she looks like right now - all primed up.

Tomorrow I’ll go over it one more time looking for defects on the surface and begin the camo pattern. What a beautiful aircraft.

Swanny, Looking good so far. I can’t wait to see the finished model.
mark956

wat type camo u be using ?

niceeee

This thing is starting to look very cool, really like this camo scheme.

Hmm , nice never seen this camo b4 what is the tone color of the lower side ?
is it a british type ?

anyway looking forward for the finish model [:)]

Swanny, that’s beautiful! I really like that camo, too.

camo pattern makes sense because they had time to paint the things towards the begining of the war. What uniform will it wear? A yank (B-17E) or a limey (Fortress I)? [;)]

She’s a Limey for sure.

I really like the camo, Swanny. Makes for a really different Fortress. How did you mask the gun openings on the top turret ? I hate it when you have to mount a turret before closing the fuselage. Good luck protecting the gun barrels, too.
Can’t wait to see it with decals !

Very impressive so far. Keep those pics coming!
