B-17 radio compartment bulkheads????

ok, here goes the long line of questions on the -17 untill i get this monster done…

on the front bulkhead of the radio room, does it go all the way up to the “hump” in the upper fusalage.

on the rear bulkhead, does the door open to the front of the plane, or the rear, from the bulkhead it looks foreward, but i cant find a pic that shows it real clear. And what is the door made of and is it painted. Does the rear bulhead go all the way to the fusalage, or is there a space between them.

I hope someone will have the answers, i cant seem to find a good picture of this area of the aircraft.

happy new year, happy modeling, and thanks

jim

The door is made of wood and does not appear to be painted. Both doors open into the radio room. Check out the walkarounds at http://aircraftresourcecenter.com and look at the various B-17 series. The Memphis Belle set has one shot of the radio room and the “G” series show several shots of the radio room.

Try this web site it might help: http://www.heavybombers.com/b-17interiors.asp
Happy New Year!

I found a "cutaway " drawing and it shows both the bulkheads of the bombbay going all the way to the top of the “hump” in case the pictures didn’t show it.

thanks for all the help guys…isnt it amazing how you can never find a picture showing just the right area that you need!!! (or a B-17 sitting at your local airport, or in your driveway when you need it the most

thanks again
