B-17 pilots uniforms

Hello all…I am building a B-17G 1/48 scale and it comes with a couple of mechanics and pilots. I am not sure what to paint the vest on the pilots and the straps. I think the vest is the flight vest that goes over the uniform.

they didn’t wear vests i don’t think…they wore olive drab coats over everything since it got very cold on those planes from being so high.

Thanks for the info…that is what I thought too…I think the straps are yellow also.

I figured if anyone would know it would be this lot.

B-17 crews generally wore Mae West flotation vests over their normal clothing and jackets. These were yellow so they could be seen from the air while in the water.
