I have a question about B-17 model differences. I recently purchased a Revell 1/72 B-17F Memphis Belle kit. I’m wanting to add some PE detail parts, but most of what I am finding are for b-17G models. Can I make some of these parts work on the F model or were there differences that will prevent this from happening? I’m asking mostly about the bomb bays.
Pretty sure bomb bays and other fuselage internals were largely the same. Powered nose ‘chin’ turret (and attendant changes in that area, like ‘cheek’ windows) was the main difference for the late-F and -G models.
Cool, so ordering the Eduard kit won’t be a waste of time then.
Most Eduard sets are best used sparingly if you want to remain sane. I rarely use more than a third of any particular fret, but that’s almost always a big improvement for the model. The G set should work fine on an F and mostly OK on an E. Earlier than that there are too many differences.
And if you really want something different, try making a YB-40. The eduard parts will still work.
