Sometime ago, OldHooker built a Rutan B-17. At that time,after seeing his work, I knew I wanted to do one of my hybrids on a grand scale and here it is. A B-24 is adding parts to this endevour. These were all models I’ve built before in the past and will probably do again in the future with the skills to do them justice. For now ,these were bugging me with their inferior looks and decide it was time to make another Phoenix raise from the ashes.
The main thing I’ve done to the 'Fort is cut out the wing spar section, invert it and make this into a high wing aircraft. I used the Lib bomb bay frame and removed the ball turret. It will have 4 B-17 engines and 2 Liberator. I haven’t decide on the landing gear yet. The wings and tail surfaces were from a 1:72 KC-135. With the remaining parts, so far I have been able to piece together a Privateer, which is coincidental to OldHookers B-17 in that he used Privateer style windows on his bird. I have till the 1st of the year to finish this, so I’ll be moving at light speed to finish this one.[:D] Here are the pix so far. Enjoy.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. You’re right, it is over the top. That’s why I do these.[:D] If I wanted normal, I’d do a regular model[(-D][:-,] I try to make it a believable, but out there enough to give someone a double take.[:)]

My first forward swept aircraft is going to be the Dreamstar from the book, Day of the Cheetah.
To be honest, I have no idea, but it is very frustrating when it’s not there.
I’ll try to post a pic to see if this new forum works for me.[:)] I extended the nacelle with a part of an old 707 and the fairing to the rear of the wing is a piece of the KC-135 aft fuselage, and I do mean the very end.[8-]
You and another person has pulled back to reality a bit. After I got done looking at the wing ,again, I decided the look of flight control surfaces being impeded( how I would be able to devote time to other problems) would not look right. So, I’ve got an idea of 4 props with 5 blades.[:D] That and magically make front landing gear appear in the nose of this aircraft.[banghead][swg]
Speaking of molding many parts together to make highly specialized creature, I’ve been reading Day of the Cheetah again and that project is going to be a challenge! In one part of the book it says Dreamstar has one engine and two vectored nozzles and in another it says it has two. It’s a forward sweep wing, Falcon styles intake, vertical stabs telescoping though the top AND bottom of the fuselage. Not to mention it weights 100,000lbs!! 50 tons is alot of aircraft. Makes a Tomcat seem like a Scooter.[;)] Oh yea, did I mention I was working on 8 other projects. Yeehaa!
