B-17 in holding pattern...

Hey fellas, My B-17 is on hold for now[:(] I’ve been tinkerin’ with the True Detail Cockpit & Bombadier’s Compartment along with adding the Paragon Designs Open Bomb Bay set (flaps, crew access doors) I have hit a snag as I need to remove approx. 3mm from the rear of the cockpit floor in order for the bomb bay to sit in it’s rightful spot. there’s other complications with the TD sets which my skill levels aren’t upto the challenge at this time. Side panels need to be tweaked a bit in order to fit properly as the O2 bottles will hit the seats if not done right. (the panels need to be trimmed too) The fit is off as the panels will overlap the panels by the rear bulkhead.
So for now, I’ve started on my Fujimi 1/72 A-6A Intruder which I plan on doing up in NATC (Pax River,MD) color scheme [during the 1963-64 era] of Service Test since my uncle had been a project pilot on the A-6A tests. Anyone know of a decal set for this?
TIA,
Eddie

I find a Dremel with a large cut-off wheel is great for trimming floorpans. Just use the flat side of the wheel like a small sanding disc.

AHH just stick an M80 under it that should do the job.[:D] Had to do it ED had to get ya back LOL

Thanks, I had thought of this. Also a maiden flight across the room[:-,] but, I decided it best to put it up until I can think these quirks thru.

Thanks Swanny, I’ll keep that in mind. Right now I don’t have a steady enough hand to cut a straight line. need to lighten up my touch a bit too.

I’m going to be smart about this Swanny, which is why I put it up for now. Being fairly new to resin sets & these being new to us. I’ll wait for you to start in on this & follow your lead[:D] I gave it a good try & ran into some unforeseen difficulties which I’ve mentioned here. I could always build the kit w/out the TD sets & buy another for the TD stuff when I’m skilled enough to tackle them.
I value your advice Matt & thanks for your input. The cut-off disc will work & since the rear bulkhead needs to move foreward 3mm I’ll really need to trim the side panels down too.
